The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine prepares qualified veterinarians with knowledge and skills to keep pace with the requirements of the local, regional and international labor market.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is one of the newest faculties of Ain Shams University. The study began in the faculty as of the academic year 2022/2023, and the number of students enrolled in the first academic level reached 126 students.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ain Shams University prepares a qualified veterinarian knowledgeably and skillfully, and aims to conduct applied scientific research, continuing education and community service in accordance with the requirements of the regional labor market within the framework of professional ethics.
The establishment of the faculty went through several stages. On 24/2/2020, the Ain Shams University Board approved the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini, the President of the University at that time, extended bridges of communication with the Suez Canal University to discuss the establishment of the faculty.
The Board of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Suez Canal University presented the list of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine program for the undergraduate level to be an academic reference for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ain Shams University.
On 3/1/2021, the Prime Minister’s Resolution No. (406) was issued regarding adding the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ain Shams University, to Clause III/22 of the Executive Regulations of the Universities Organization Law, as a culmination of fruitful cooperation efforts between Ain Shams University and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Suez Canal University.
On 6/23/2021, Executive Order No. 4355 was issued to Ain Shams University, assigning Prof. Ahmed Ahmed Refaat Khafagy, Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Suez Canal University, to carry out follow-up work on the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ain Shams University, as of 6/14/2021.
The faculty founding team has worked on preparing the list of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ain Shams University with the accredited hours system to keep pace with the academic reference standards issued by the National Authority for Quality Assurance of Education and Accreditation and to comply with the European system for veterinary education so that the faculty can obtain international accreditation and to meet the requirements of the local, regional and international market and establish partnerships with international universities.
It is noteworthy that the Faculty of Agriculture hosted the fledgling Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in its first year until the completion of the faculty building in its distinguished location in Shubra Al-Khaimah, next to the gardens of the ancient palace of Muhammad Ali, in conjunction with the historical role played by the Faculty of Agriculture in the development of livestock on the outskirts of the Nile Delta.
