Seminar on the role of universities in supporting the national project for literacy: Prof. Dr. Nazmi: The university will target 120,000 illiterate people each year.

Prof. Dr. Nazmy Abdel Hamid, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, opened the activities of the symposium "The Role of Universities in Supporting the National Literacy Project" which is organized by the Faculty of Commerce at the University under the auspices of Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Dr.. Abdel Hamid, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, organized and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Khaled Kadry, Dean of the Faculty of Business, in the presence of Dr. Ashour El-Amry, Chairman of the General Authority for Adult Education, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Fattah, Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Islam Al-Saeed, director of the university's adult education center, and a number of faculty members and a large number of students from the Faculty of Business.

Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs confirmed that the Faculty of Business as one of the seven faculties in the first sector responsible for literacy at the university, namely the Faculties of Business, Al-Alsun, Law, Arts, Education, Specific Education and Girls.

He added that the number of targeted groups during the first stage is about 120,000 illiterates, as we dream that we will eradicate illiteracy this number every year, through the support of the General Authority for Adult Education and the Adult Education Center at Ain Shams University, which provide unprecedented services by setting a database of illiterates at the level of the Republic, We did not dream of obtaining it in order to facilitate the task of reaching the targeted people. There is unprecedented enthusiasm and there is a new mechanism that will provide good outcomes.

He added that this is a community service that must be shared by all groups of society in eradicating illiteracy. The sustainable development plan for Egypt will stop with the presence of 18 million illiterates located in Egypt, and we have in Egypt universities 3 million students targeted if they wipe out a large part of illiteracy this number and thus we started From here to motivate students in their societal role besides offering incentives and comparative advantages for students, Girls College has offered a large number of courses, the university's adult education center has made a great effort moving within the whole college, which motivates students and raises the response rate of students,

He pointed out that the university includes 6 thousand students in the university cities, girls and boys from the different governorates of Egypt, so they are expected to reach the largest number of illiterates in all governorates, besides the presence of the actual database, which helps to speed their interaction with them in the fastest time, there is a new vision and a new future for literacy within Egypt, and within 3 months from now there will be a very large transfer in the project.

Prof. Dr. Khaled Kadri, Dean of the University’s Faculty of Business, on the role of the Faculty of Business in the illiteracy eradication project, stressing that today is witnessing an implementation step in the universities ’support for the literacy project, explaining that the project for Ain Shams University began through a decision of the university’s council headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and support for Dr. Abdel Hamid, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, organized that the university start activating its role in literacy, especially through faculty with large student numbers as a first stage.
