In implementation of the decision of the President of the Republic, to suspend the study in schools and universities for a period of two weeks, as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the Corona virus, Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, directed the heads of public, private, and foreign universities and institutes to start implementing (Online learning) which was discussed and approved last Tuesday, to facilitate the provision of lectures to students in all universities and institutes on the distance education system, starting from Sunday and in accordance with the tables prepared in advance.
The Minister also directed to provide technical support to faculty members in all universities to enable them to use the websites of universities, colleges and social media to provide lectures to students.
This measure is to prevent large gatherings of university and institute students, as a precautionary measure to prevent corona virus, and to use this period to increase sterilization and disinfection of all university buildings and facilities, in addition to removing the negative effects of the torrential rain wave that the country has been exposed to during the past days.
The Minister of Higher Education empowered the university presidents to set new schedules for the attendance of faculty members and workers, which included reducing the attendance of faculty members, the support staff, and workers, in order to achieve the prevention of numerical densities on the one hand, while facilitating the provision of lectures to students electronically and facilitating university work on the other hand.
The electronic lecture plan also includes postgraduate students during the same period.
Discussions for pre-scheduled scientific theses continue, with guidance to reduce attendance for these discussions.
