Ain Shams University hosts a meeting of the Higher Committee for Adult Education

In light of the current conditions and conditions that the country is going through, and out of the keenness of the Supreme Committee for Literacy to resume its activity and the development of a new mechanism for using technology in the national project to eliminate literacy as a new methodology to clarify the vision and deliver information quickly and effectively, the Supreme Committee for Literacy held its sessions today in the Zafaran Palace, the headquarters of the administration of Ain Shams University

Where Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Matini, President of Ain Shams University and Prof. Dr. Nazmi Abdel Hamid, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, received members of the Supreme Committee to follow up the implementation of the Egyptian universities for the national illiteracy eradication project, at its seventh session for the year 2020, headed by Prof. Dr. Hilali Al-Sherbini, former Minister of Education in the presence of Prof. Dr. Nazmi Abdel Hamid, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development and as a member of the committee formed by the Supreme Council to follow up the implementation of the National Project for Literacy in Egyptian universities and Dr. Ashour Ahmed Omari, President of the General Authority for Adult Education Prof. Dr. Tarik Mahrous, Vice President of Al-Azhar University for Graduate Studies The researcher and the acting president of the university’s university for community service and environment development, Prof. Alaa El Din Ramadan, vice president of Alexandria University for Community Service Affairs and Environmental Development and Prof. Maha Zakaria, vice president of Port Said University for community service and environmental development, and Professor Dr. Magdy Salah Taha, director of the Mansoura University Center for Adult Education Services and Professor Ahmed Abdel Aziz Director of Or the General Administration for Technical Affairs of the Supreme Council of Universities and Dr. Fatima Ayad, General Coordinator of the Egyptian Universities Project at the General Authority for Adult Education, with outstanding efforts from Ain Shams University and with the support of the Ministry of Education.

Ain Shams University ranked fifth among the Egyptian universities in the field of literacy and adult education during the April 2020 session, where Dr. Nazmi Abdel Hamid thanked and appreciated the members of the committee, expressing his great happiness for the efforts made in this file

The committee discussed several topics, including the presentation of what was reached between the General Authority for Adult Education and Universities regarding literacy, as well as the committee discussed how to communicate with banks to support the literacy project and honor outstanding students in this field as well as Egyptian universities, and procedures for evaluating universities on Its achievements in the field of the national illiteracy eradication project during the last period from the beginning of October 2019 until the end of March 2020, as well as proposals were discussed by the mechanisms and methods of work of universities in the national project for literacy during the coming period in light of the precautionary measures taken by the state to eliminate the spread of the Corona pandemic.

This has recommended the committee during its meeting regarding the chapters that have opened and continued work in it until the beginning of the crisis of Corona and the registered chapters and its potential to convert them into chapters working on the use of technology with the possibility of benefiting from the technological development unit in the authority and recording curricula on CD Hat while working to raise it on the Authority’s website With the exploitation of electronic platforms for universities to place videos on them, as well as on the website of the Supreme Council of Universities with the possibility of transferring the classes to the activation classes for the duration of the semester one month, but this will be without reward with the ability to convert the chapters to correspondence classes to complete the period of 90 days with the payment of the full reward for students and universities on this should be done before the start of September.

The committee also recommended the possibility of using the trainers present in all branches of the authority to work on training teachers to guide them in Egyptian universities for non-educational colleges such as arts, trade and language to train students in the educational methods of adults.

At the end of the session, the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Dr. Al-Hilali Al-Sherbini, thanked the universities that have achieved distinguished achievements during the last session, especially the Damietta University, Minia University, Suez University, Beni Suef University and Ain Shams University.
