Ain Shams University honors the doctors of the chest department of the Faculty of Medicine, in appreciation of their efforts to confront the emerging corona virus

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Awad Tag Eldin, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the College of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, and Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Osama Mansour, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Samia Abda, Deputy Executive Director of University Hospitals and Director of the Infection Control Unit, Prof. Yasser Mustafa, head of the chest department, the doctors of the chest department were honored, including representatives, teachers and assistant teachers; in recognition of their efforts in treating people with Covid-19.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Awad Tag ElDin, said that the state has made unprecedented efforts to confront this global epidemic, pointing out that university hospitals have played a heroic role that every Egyptian is proud of, linking the events of the present and the world wars in combating the Corona virus with the events of the October 1973 war, stressing that Egypt's white army made great sacrifices Throughout history to do his national and humanitarian duty.

He added that early preparation, good study and availability of information, in addition to the state’s allocation of 100 billion pounds, was added to the treasury of the medical sector, which is an unprecedented event in any country in the world, all of which had the greatest impact in overcoming the crisis and controlling the health situation inside Egypt compared to many Countries of the world.

He added that Ain Shams University was the first to establish an intensive chest care department in Egypt, and the renewal and keeping up with the times are continuing to follow the increase in the number of patients thanks to the development of infrastructure and the provision of high-quality health care.

He praised the role of the martyrs of the White Army, stressing the need for continued vigilance to maintain the ability to control the situation.

He conveyed the appreciation of the Egyptian state and the state’s high leadership to all doctors and employees of the Egyptian White Army.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar supervised the efforts of all doctors in the chest department, as well as the cooperation of all other departments in university hospitals for their efforts in treating patients with Covid-19 virus, and their endurance to emergency global health conditions.

Prof. Dr. Shahera Samir pointed out that we are proud of all the chest doctors because they were and still are the first line of defense.

She emphasized that Ain Shams University hospitals activated many medical services over the phone to facilitate the citizens, which had the most significant impact in providing medical service while controlling the health situation, preventing the spread of the virus and limiting its spread.

Prof. Dr. Osama Mansour said that scientific research did not stop to reach a drug against this virus, pointing to the cooperation of many institutions and agencies in a lot of clinical research on the virus.

The ceremony included the distribution of certificates of appreciation, as well as honoring Prof. Dr. Muhammed Awad Tag El-Din and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar in the presence of a group of doctors and university hospital employee.
