The conclusion of "Be strong" campaign activities at Ain Shams University

Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Ezzat, President of the University concluded the activities of a "Be strong" campaign organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Nazmi Abdul Hamid, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development. The conclusion took place in the presence of star Rania Farid Shawqi, the announcer Islam Nawawi member of the General Directorate of fatwa and the presenter of the program of good sermons on Dream channel and the Rev. Jeremiah Makram member of the General Secretariat of the Egyptian family house.

Prof. Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, President of the University, confirmed that Ain Shams University is the first to spread the idea of ​​confronting harassment and violence in all its aspects since the establishment of the unit to combat harassment and violence against women in the university. Pointing out that the percentage of women in the university is about 55% varied among faculty members and female students. The university president stressed that our message is to accept each other without any obstacles.

Prof. Dr. Hind El Helaly, Director of Combating Harassment and Violence against Women Unit, pointed out that today we are witnessing the conclusion of the 16 day campaign violence against women, which is supported by the National Council for Women in collaboration with the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the University and the Faculty of Commerce headed by Prof. Dr. Khalid Kadri, Dean of the Faculty and Prof. Dr. Gehan Ragab, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. She added that many awareness seminars were held in the faculties of the university over the past days to introduce their objectives.

The artist Rania stressed that the real power is the power of reason that comes through life experiences, adding that life has difficult moments, pointing out that she grew up in a home that respects and appreciates women, making them able to deal with difficult situations and stressing the need to draw strength from emergence and environment.

On the role of awareness of art, she pointed out that there are a lot of female artistic figures such as the Arab artist Faten Hamama and other women who have presented many roles that have positively affected the community before. She deplored the current spotlight on the negatives only in many works of art without offering solutions, confirming that real art remains in memory.

Dr. Nagla Al-Adly, a member of the National Council for Women, said that women can not reach a good place in society except with the support of men. Adding that there are 18 Egyptian universities have set up units to confront violence against women. She expressed her hope that these units will spread in all universities.

For his part, Gamal Al-Sha'er explained that the media has to create an atmosphere of social peace and reassurance to its parties because we are not in conflict. Adding that the greatest danger to society is the erosion of the middle class, calling on the media not to exaggerate the portrayal of shortcomings or slums in the drama, provide solutions, and assess the problems facing it. He stressed that frustration is the biggest harasser and the biggest threat to the community.

The announcer Islam Al-Nawawi member of the General Directorate of the fatwa said that harassment is an educational pattern resulting from the lack of nerve, who harassed is not a man, stressing the importance of religious and cultural grounds.

The pastor Jeremiah Makram, a member of the General Secretariat of the family house, called for the need to know how to deal with the other party by referring to the fundamentals in the Qur'an and the Bible in order to reach the formula of dealing between men and women.

Mrs. Maha Marwan explained that the National Council for Women has conducted several awareness campaigns that address all sects of society, explaining that today's message to women must be strong in order to face the difficulties they face in their lives.

Germen Haddad Representative of the United Nations Population Fund said that Ain Shams University presented a proud example of being the first to adopt this idea and implement it in record time. She noted that the proportion of young people in the society is about 60%, half of them girls, which means that they have to be integrated into society more and give them confidence to achieve economic advancement.

Prof. Dr. Hend El Helaly, Director of the Anti-Violence Unit, thanked the faculty members who contributed to the success of the campaign from university faculties. At the end of the ceremony, the Volunteer Student Unit and anti-violence campaigns staged a dramatic drama of violence against women.

This was followed by honoring the guests and employees of the unit for the efforts exerted during the period of the activities of combating violence against women.
