Within the framework of the cooperation protocol between Ain Shams University under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University and Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Zahran, head of the authority, the door has been opened to apply for the third batch of the professional diploma specializing in remote sensing and geographic information systems, which is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East, and is approved by the Supreme Council of Universities.
The executive management of the diploma includes a coordinator from the university, namely Prof. Dr. Rasha Hamid Bondok, and coordinator of the body Prof. Dr. Ghada Ata Youssef. The first batch graduated in the academic year 2019-2020, and the second batch was accepted in the 2020-2021 academic year, and the Diploma Department is preparing to receive the third batch in February 2021.
The diploma graduate is distinguished by the practical skill that qualifies it for the job market and makes it a strong competitor in the field of remote sensing applications and geographic information systems, because students obtain theoretical and practical courses specialized in remote sensing sciences, and advanced courses in geographic information systems science, in addition to the unique diploma. By teaching courses in geographic information systems programming, practical graduation projects also contribute to students in refining practical experience and applying what has been learned on the ground in projects beneficial to society that present to solve societal problems of the largest institutions in the country and linking for the first time between academic and research study and major community parties benefiting from Sensor Science and Geographic Information Systems.
