Within the framework of Ain Shams University's interest in contemporary society issues and contributing to building a conscious society and activating the role of scientific research in renewing the religious discourse, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, received Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mukhtar Gumaa Minister of Endowments, where the two parties discussed ways to increase aspects of joint and mutual cooperation between Ain Shams University and the Ministry of Endowments.
The Minister of Endowments also chaired the discussion committee for the master’s thesis submitted by researcher Syed Hassan Muhammad Ali at the Institute of Environmental Studies and Research at Ain Shams University, and was received by Professor Noha Samir Dunya, Dean of the Institute, and the scientific thesis titled “Means of social upbringing and environmental variables linked to extremism” was discussed. The intellectual level of university youth - a comparative study between Al-Azhar and Ain Shams universities.
The Minister of Endowments explained in his speech during the discussion that the Ministry of Endowments had prepared clear plans for training and education, through the distinguished scientific qualification of imams and preachers, and the training and education protocols that the Ministry held with Egyptian universities in order to encourage imams to study these human sciences, sociology and openness.
Pointing out that Ain Shams University was one of the first universities to implement these protocols, adding that the Ministry of Endowments has formed partnerships and protocols with Egyptian universities in order to provide (free) master's and doctoral scholarships for imams and preachers in many fields.
Prof. Dr. Noha Samir Dunya, Dean of the Institute, explained that this scientific thesis is one of the first interest of the Ministry of Endowments to study both psychology and sociology, adding that the discussion and judgment committee on the thesis included both Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Gumaa Mabrouk - Minister of Endowments and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (Chair and discussion), Prof. Hatem Abdel Moneim Ahmed - Professor of Environmental Sociology at the Institute of Environmental Studies and Research, Ain Shams University (supervisor and discussant), and Prof. Ali Syed Ali Muslim - Professor and Head of the Department of Work with Societies and Organizations, Faculty of Social Work, Helwan University (member and discussion)
The Minister of Endowments was honored by the Dean of the Institute, as the institute presented him as a memorial to honor his sovereignty to the Institute and in appreciation of his high standing.
