Ministry of Higher Education: University Hospitals' preparations to participate in the comprehensive health insurance system

Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research reviewed a report submitted by Dr. Hussam Abdel Ghaffar, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, on the university hospitals' preparations to participate in the comprehensive health insurance system.

The report indicated that university hospitals have taken several measures to prepare for the comprehensive health insurance system, which the President of the Republic announced in November 2019 during the inauguration of national and development projects in Port Said and North Sinai governorates, including: increasing the number of students in the field of family medicine, as well as training medical students in the units. And health centers, as well as the inclusion of health economics studies in the elective part of the curricula of medical faculties.

The report added that 19 university hospitals are being developed, both in construction and equipment, as part of the President’s initiative to establish a model hospital in each governorate. In order to keep pace with the new health insurance system, so that these hospitals become equipped to participate in providing health service, which are the universities of the universities: (Cairo, Ain Shams, Helwan, Benha, Menoufia, Zagazig, Kafr El Sheikh, Suez Canal, Fayoum, Alexandria, Assiut, South Valley Mansoura, Sohag, Al-Azhar Specialist, Beni Suef, Minya, Tanta, Aswan).
