The opening of the International Geographic Information Conference 2021 with the participation of Ain Shams University

The Vice President of Ain Shams University of Postgraduate Studies and Research expressed his thanks and appreciation for the invitation of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society to participate in the International Conference on Geographic Information in cooperation with King Saud University, and this came during the opening session of the International Conference on Geographic Information 2021, which is organized by the Saudi Geographical Society in cooperation with King University Saud.

He pointed out that Ain Shams University is distinguished for being a prestigious university that includes three specialized departments in geography with its various faculties: Arts, Education and Girls. The number of faculties staff is 99 members, in addition to 7 undergraduate programs in which 5476 students study, 9 postgraduate programs taught It has 87 students, as well as a joint diploma in geographic information with the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences.

He also expressed the university's aspiration to continue cooperation with the Saudi Geographical Society and all Saudi scientific institutions in order to form an effective partnership that represents a locomotive for development in the Middle East region scientifically, culturally, economically and socially.

His participation included a lecture on "Ain Shams University's role in the sustainable development of Egyptian society and its direction to achieve the goals of the fourth generation of universities”.

Prof. Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al-Dossary, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society and Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee, thanks the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences and Ain Shams University for their interest in developing and stimulating creativity and scientific excellence, developing knowledge in society and enhancing it in various scientific and cultural fields.

For his part, Prof. Mohamed Bayoumi Zahran, head of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, expressed his gratitude for participating in the conference, which is the largest conference in Geographic Information systems techniques in the Arab world.

It is worth noting that the International Geographic Information Conference aims to provide a scientific environment to discuss developments and future trends in geographic information science techniques and their applications in various fields, and to support decision-making in line with the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030 in achieving an "ambitious nation whose government is effective" and striving to "develop The e-government “by expanding the range of electronic services provided, which includes geographic information systems.

Speakers and researchers from 10 Arab and foreign countries participate in the conference: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Libya, Morocco, Germany, Spain, Italy and the United States of America. The activities of the conference will take place over a period of three days.

The cooperation between the three sides of the scientific triangle: the Saudi Geographical Society, the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, and Ain Shams University is the first of its kind, which aims to spread awareness of the culture of remote sensing and space sciences in the Arab community.
