The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Faculty of Al-Alsun, in cooperation with the Civil Defense Department and the Security Department at the University, organized a training workshop for civil defense, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hisham Temraz, Vice President of Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Youmna Safwat, Vice Dean of Community Service and Environmental Development, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Khulousi, Director of University Security, Prof. Dr. Mohamad Attia, Deputy Director of University Security and Director of the University’s Civil Defense Department.
As Prof. Dr. Youmna Safwat, Vice Dean of Community Service and Environmental Development, opened the activities of the workshop, stressing that the community service and environmental development sector works to follow all necessary procedures to ensure the safety of all employees, staff and students in the faculty, stressing that the faculty seeks through this workshop to rehabilitate them To face any crises or disasters, she explained that the workshop is divided into two theoretical and practical parts to raise the efficiency of all faculty staff, the teaching assistants, students and administrators, to deal with any emergency that may occur.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Khulousi, Director of the University's Security Department, stated that the evacuation experiences require great preparation, stressing that the problem occurs at a moment and everyone must be ready to face any emergency, and he explained that training in conducting these experiments is very important with the participation of students and administrators in addition to civil defense and security ; As everyone should be aware of how to deal with crises in each location.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Mohamad Attia, Director of the Civil Defense Department at the University, confirmed that Ain Shams University was a pioneer in establishing a full civil defense department, and that it was provided with all capabilities that would qualify it to face emergencies and manage crises and disasters, and the Civil Defense Department is one of the most important security agencies in the university entrusted with preparedness Disasters and crises and dealing with them with the aim of preserving lives and properties with the utmost precision.
During the workshop, he reviewed the characteristics of firefighters and firefighting devices in the faculty, their components and how to use them, and confirmed that the Faculty of Al-Alsun provided its control and the administrative building with a chemical fire extinguisher with a self-extinguishing process to secure them against fires.
He pointed out that the series of preventive measures followed by Ain Shams University are considered pre-emptive strikes against natural disasters that may occur at any time, stressing that the first stage to confront crises is the pre-disaster stage, where plans are developed, the human element is trained, disasters are anticipated before they occur and the supply is provided. With the necessary equipment to cope with it.
The second stage is facing disasters such as floods and securing water drains before they occur, and the third stage is the evaluation of plans and the performance of personnel and equipment to overcome them in the next plan.
He reviewed the definition and types of fires, stressing that they may break out in less than a moment and must be tamed and put under control before they become a fracturing monster that is difficult to control.
Therefore, the civil defense man must be fully aware of the definition of the fire and the components of the fire and how to control it and tighten the security grip on it through the use of appropriate anti-materials, and put the fire under an appropriate reaction process to extinguish it as soon as possible in order to preserve lives and property.
He stressed that Ain Shams University has developed a distinguished proactive plan to confront the torrential crises that the country witnessed last year, as it brought submersible motors due to the presence of stores and a number of halls in the colleges below the level of the drainage surface, and those equipment contributed to raising water from those low places to the banks and securing them. He stressed that the university is preparing and developing the human element in the Civil Defense Department at the highest level to deal with disasters in the world.
