The Dean of Faculty of Al-Alsun inaugurates the third international conference of the English Language Department

Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, inaugurated the activities of the third international conference of the Department of English in the Faculty in Languages, Literature and Translation entitled "Ideology, Ethics and Aesthetics" under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Samar Abdel Salam, Head of the Faculty's English Language Department, via video conference technology.

During her speech, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, stressed the importance of focusing the conference’s activities on promoting international publishing in the prestigious international indexes, which leads to upgrading the university’s classification, as well as shedding light on inter-research that is based on integration and merging between different disciplines, along with the necessity Paying attention to innovative applied research and linking it to industry and entrepreneurship.

The conference included international participations, so Prof. Andrew Hamilton is Professor of Aesthetics, Ethics and Politics at Durham University, England, and Prof. William Milleny, Professor of Comparative Literature at the American University in Cairo, in addition to the participation of Prof. Dr. Eman Al-Nashar, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Interdisciplinary Research at Helwan University, M. Radwa Kotaite, Assistant Professor of Translation Studies at Al-Alsun Faculty and Director of the Innovation Unit at the Faculty. The conference also presented the research topics that were published in the second issue of the scientific department's refereed journal "Textual Turnings".

     
 
     

The sessions were moderated by Prof. Dr. Fadwa Kamal Abdel Rahman, Professor of English Literature in the Department, and Dr. Samar Abdel Salam, Head of the English Language Department, and M. Ghada Abdel Aziz, Assistant Professor of Linguistics, and Dr. Manal Mahmoud Shalabi, teacher of linguistics in the department.

The sessions dealt with the relationship between literature, ideology, ethics, aesthetics, and historical interpretations of various literary works, as well as an important session on interdisciplinary studies and the need to expand and integrate cooperation with different disciplines, and another session on practical applications of the human sciences and demolishing the myth of separating literature from science and presenting practical models for the innovations of young researchers In the field of human sciences.

The conference concluded its work with a recommendation to encourage a research mentality that sets the focus of its eyes on applied studies and linking it to the labor market. The conference also recommended forming a work force from the English Language Department in the Faculty as a nucleus for cooperation with other departments and disciplines at the university and drawing a roadmap to study the possibilities of expanding inter-studies.
