The Faculty of Arts wins the second place at the university level in the literacy project in the April 2021 session

The Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University got second place for the second time during 2021 at the level of university faculties in the student participation project in literacy (April 2021 session).

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mortada, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and a general supervision. Prof. Dr. Rasha Al-Deedy, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and the implementation of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kasim, coordinator of the literacy unit at the faculty.

The project is based on integrating Ain Shams University students in the university’s literacy initiative within the activities of the community service and environmental development sector to solve the problems of Egyptian society, foremost of which is the illiteracy crisis and its consequences in cooperation with the Executive Authority for Adult Education in accordance with the protocol signed between the university and the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education headed by Dr. Ashour Al-Omari As it is required for the student to obtain a graduation certificate to eradicate a minimum of 4 persons during the four academic years.

The students of the Faculty of Arts contributed to the literacy of (978) individuals in the April 2021 session.

         
   
         

It is noteworthy that one of the Faculty students, Esraa Ashraf Al-Sayed, completed the literacy of 14 individuals on her own, as a result of the training and motivational support provided by the university administration, the Faculty and the Adult Education Authority. Students are rehabilitated and trained in literacy and adult education in cooperation with the adult education center at the university through specialized training workshops In theory and in practice, each male or female student will be granted a financial incentive award of 250 pounds for each person whose illiteracy has been eradicated without a maximum, while the outstanding students will be exempted from tuition fees for a full academic year and offering training courses at low cost to raise and develop their abilities to qualify them for the labor market after their graduation.

On that occasion, the faculty administration, represented by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mortada, Dean of the Faculty, as well as Prof. Dr. Rasha Al-Didi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, honored some of the faculty members and their coordinators from the faculty’s literacy project coordinators who contributed with their efforts to achieve this great achievement in the field of community service and environmental development.

It is worth noting that the total number of literacy individuals reached 5417 at the university faculties level during the April 2021 session.
