Ain Shams University hosts QS Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa in the presence of the University President

Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, received Dr. Ashun Fernandes, QS Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, to analyze the current situation of Ain Shams University in the QS international classification of universities in detail and to develop plans and proposals to improve the university's classification next year.

The International Cooperation Team, headed by Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Prof. Reem Al-Kabariti, Director of Alumni Department, Prof. Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Director of the International Cooperation Department, Prof. Dr. Sherwet Al-Ahmadi, Director of Expatriates Department, Prof. Dr. Tamer Al-Nadi, Director of Grants and Projects Department, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna, Director of the International Classification Office at the university, shared with them via video conference technology.

         
   
         

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini said that Ain Shams University is making remarkable progress in most international classifications, and there are plans that are being developed and developed continuously in order to obtain more advanced positions in all international classifications, pointing out that the successes that have been achieved are due to the concerted efforts inside and outside the university, praising the efforts of Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saoud in this important file and thanking those in charge of the international classification office at the university headed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna, as well as all members of the international cooperation team headed by Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir.

         
   
         

El-Metini said that the continuation of success requires more effort, calling on all members of the university community to support the international classification file, whether by more hard work, scientific research, international publication, or by communicating with the outside university community in the context of raising the university’s name, which will be reflected on the university’s global academic reputation, which is One of the criteria for ranking universities.

         
   
         

On his part, Dr. Ashoun Fernandes said that Ain Shams University was able, within a short period of time, to achieve strong progress in the global Qs classification, by working according to a specific and clear plan in accordance with international standards and with strong efforts during which everyone cooperated, which made it present a successful model that sends a message of hope to all universities in the world.

Also, Dr. Ashoun explained the criteria by which universities are classified, the most important of which are the academic reputation, the possibilities that the university provides to its students, the extent to which its graduates are qualified for the labor market, in addition to the number of scientific research, the rates of international scientific publication of the university, the citations of researchers in the world with research submitted by researchers and academics at the university, and the ratio of faculty staff to the number of students, the percentage of foreign faculty members, and the percentage of international students.

Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud stressed that Ain Shams University enjoys a prestigious academic reputation, which is one of the most important factors of current success, as most of those interested in obtaining a different level of learning seek to join the university, pointing out that the number of international students has increased significantly from all countries of the world, due to the university offers new educational programs that keep pace with the requirements of the labor market, in addition to the professional reputation that the graduate is characterized by, and a strong level of learning.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna said that the results of the current year brought progress for the university in the areas of academic reputation and international students, in addition to maintaining its position in other fields, as the university was able to maintain its general position in the classification to fall within the best 800-1001.

He added that the university witnessed a significant improvement in the classification of fields, as the university appeared in 4 out of 5 basic fields in addition to 11 sub-fields.
