A seminar at the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies for Childhood emphasizes positive aspects of psychological stress

The seminar "How to deal with psychological stress" confirmed that despite the negative effects of psychological stress, it has some benefits, and the symposium was organized by the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Childhood, Ain Shams University, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Howayda Al-Gebali, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision and organization of Prof. Dr. Randa Kamal Abdel Raouf, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, during which Dr. Walaa Ragab, teacher, Department of Psychological Studies for Children.

The seminar indicated that psychological stress leads to the pituitary gland secreting a hormone called oxytocin, the stress hormone, and it is also called the “hug” hormone. The hormone, which motivates a person to seek help and support and express their feelings rather than keeping them secret.

The oxticon hormone also protects the cardiovascular system from the effects of stress (it is a natural anti-inflammatory), and this hormone helps heart cells to regenerate and recover from the effects of stress, and the blood vessels remain in a relaxed state during stress.

The seminar also dealt with the causes of psychological stress, and its effects on human health, touching on the definition of psychological stress; It is represented in the individual's realization that there are requirements that exceed his abilities and potentials with the emergence of psychological, behavioral and physical responses that do not agree with him. Psychological stress is a reflection of the way we think about a problem facing us.
