Moving a wheelchair using eye movement.. Graduation project for Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences students

Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences students created a graduation project, based on signal processing and artificial intelligence, where EOG eye signals are read with a completely secure specialized device and then processed and classified using artificial intelligence to the directions left, right, up, down, in the middle or blink twice and then This resulting direction of the chair is sent by electronic components to be moved.

Movement left or right, moving the chair left or right in relation to the top means moving the chair forward. A lower movement means moving it back and blinking twice to stop the chair in its place.

This idea helps people with special needs, including those who lack limbs, hemiplegia, cerebral palsy, etc., to move around in a chair without anyone’s help.

While working on the idea, this idea got the 5th place out of more than 255 teams in the Vodafone _VOIS Hackathon competition for Smart Solutions that was completed in March 2021.

This idea was also financially supported by Bedayty Project program offered by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in partnership with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT).
