Applying for postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Archeology is now open

The Faculty of Archeology, Ain Shams University, announces the opening of applications for postgraduate studies (diploma - master's - PhD) from Sunday, August 1 until August 30, at the headquarters of the Faculty of Archeology at Ain Shams University.

First: Diplomas:

Ancient Egyptian Archaeology.

Papyrological studies and ancient Egyptian inscriptions.

Papyrological studies and Aramaic inscriptions.

Greco-Roman Archaeology.

Papyrological studies and Greek and Latin inscriptions.

Islamic Archaeology.

Papyrological studies and Arabic inscriptions.

Archeology and excavations.

Management of museums and archaeological sites.

Second: Master's

Ancient Egyptian Archaeology (Ancient Egyptian Archaeology and Civilization/ Ancient Egyptian Language and Civilization/ Ancient Egyptian History and Civilization)

Registration conditions for the different stages:

Diploma registration requirements:

The Faculty of Archeology accepts students who have a high qualification (bachelor’s or licentiate) from an Egyptian university or its equivalent and recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities, as well as for expatriates (according to the regulations and laws in force).

Applicants must pass the personal interview before a tripartite committee formed by a decision of the department board.

Master's registration requirements:

The student must have a bachelor’s or bachelor’s degree with a grade of “good” at least, or its equivalent in the credit hours’ regulations in the major for which he is applying, or a diploma equivalent to a bachelor’s or bachelor’s degree with a grade of “good” at least, or its equivalent in the credit hours’ regulations in advanced specialization.

For students holding a bachelor’s degree from the scientific departments of the Faculty of Archeology, they must register for a master’s degree, provided that they obtain at least a “good GPA2” in their major.

Students who are graduates of the corresponding scientific departments from one of the archeology colleges or departments from Egyptian universities or equivalent Arab and foreign universities are allowed to register for a master’s degree, provided that they obtain a “good” grade or its equivalent according to the GPA of the college from which he obtained the degree in his specialization, provided that the degree in his specialization matches The student’s study programs are with their counterparts at the Faculty of Archeology, Ain Shams University, and the student may bear some supplementary courses that he had not studied until they are consistent with the bachelor’s degree granted by the Faculty of Archeology, Ain Shams, according to what is decided by the competent scientific department.

Students who have obtained one of the diplomas from the scientific departments of the Faculty of Archeology are allowed to register for a master’s degree in the same specialization, provided that they obtain a grade of “good GPA2” at least or its cumulative equivalent, with the student being charged with some supplementary courses that the duration of the diploma study does not allow to complete. This is according to what is decided by the competent scientific department.

Registration is allowed for holders of a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from all departments of antiquities, European civilization, ancient civilizations, and similar sciences.

PhD registration requirements:

The applicant must have a master's degree in the specialization applied for, with a grade of "good" at least, or an equivalent GPA, or an equivalent degree from another scientific institute recognized and equivalent by the Supreme Council of Universities.

The student must have a master's degree system with credit hours.

A student applying from outside the college is assigned to study for a doctorate with some supplementary subjects or courses to complete his qualification for admission, with the approval of the College Council after the approval of the relevant department board.

The student must submit a certificate of proficiency in English, French or German.

Documents required to apply:

The original academic qualification certificate or the original statement of success showing the general assessment for graduates of the academic year 2020/2021.

Original birth certificate
