Ain Shams University is the first at the level of Egyptian universities in the field of literacy for the year 2021/2020

Within the framework of the efforts of Ain Shams University and its belief in the importance of eradicating illiteracy through its contribution to the national project for literacy and adult education in cooperation with the General Authority for Adult Education, Ain Shams University came first in the ranking of Egyptian universities in the field of integrating its students into the national project to eradicate illiteracy according to the results of 2021 /2020.

Ain Shams University students were able to eradicate the illiteracy of 21,090 citizens, according to the results issued by the General Authority for Adult Education, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hisham Temraz, Vice President of Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Islam Al-Saeed, Director of the Adult Education Center at the university, Mr. Abdel-Khaleq Abdel-Moneim Rabie, acting Secretary-General of the University, and Mr. Suhail Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University, in cooperation with the General Authority for Adult Education headed by Prof. Dr. Ashour Omari, and Dr. Fatima Ayyad, General Coordinator of Universities.

This achievement comes despite the societal conditions that the world has gone through, the outbreak of the Corona pandemic and the suspension of many educational institutions, but the students of Ain Shams University were able to play their community volunteer role and achieve the lead by achieving their university's first place for the fiscal year 2021/2020.

It is worth mentioning that Ain Shams University has the oldest adult education center at the level of Egyptian universities, which was established in 2001, which works to train university students and qualify them to open classes, and effective measures have been taken to advance the project, including the establishment of seven units to eradicate illiteracy in the university faculties (Education - Girls: Division Education - Arts - Specific Education - Business - Alsun - Law) to communicate with students and follow up on the project, provide incentives to students and honor outstanding students in the project.

The university ranked first during the October 2020 and January 2021 sessions, which contributed to obtaining the first place during the fiscal year 2021/2020, and the university seeks with its distinguished students, faculty staff and project workers to achieve better results and eradicate the illiteracy of the largest number of illiterates to declare Egypt free of illiteracy.
