Prof. Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology at Ain Shams University, announced the start of the study with the first distinguished program specialized in archeology and excavations with a credit-hour system at the level of Egyptian and Arab universities, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; to meet the needs of Egypt and the Arab region in this specialization, the importance of which was demonstrated by the need for a graduate working in the field of archaeological excavation and excavation armed with special skills to preserve archaeological finds, as of the academic year 2021/2022.
Studying the program is awarded a bachelor’s degree accredited by Ain Shams University. At the end of the program, the graduate acquires knowledge of the sciences related to excavations and archaeological excavation, and the skills of managing excavation sites, and practices various works for them, applying the latest methods with the use of modern technological devices, and writes reports on them and publishes them scientifically.
This is in addition to the basic study programs in the credit-hour system offered by the Faculty of Archeology, which are ancient Egyptian antiquities, Greek and Roman antiquities, and Islamic antiquities.
