The first meeting of the Council of the Faculty of Archeology at Ain Shams University was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Hisham Temraz, Vice President of Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Al-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty, former Minister of Antiquities, Prof. Dr. Zahi Hawass, former Minister of Antiquities, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, former Minister of Antiquities and supervisor of the Museums and Archaeological Sites Management Program, and faculty staff from abroad, Eng. Ghada Labib, Deputy Minister of Communications for Institutional Development, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Samir Hamza, former cultural advisor in Washington, Prof. Dr. Hossam Tantawi, Vice Dean of Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Shawki, Vice Dean of Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Nader Abdel Dayem, Head of the Department of Islamic Archeology, and Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel Halim, Head of the Department of Ancient Egyptian Antiquities.
and Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Al-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty and the former Minister of Antiquities explained that the council dealt with everything related to the developmental vision of the Faculty of Archeology, as well as the faculty’s own projects, distinguished and interprogrammes with the faculties of science, computers and information science, and engineering, in addition to international partnerships with the Universities of Wisconsin and Johns Hopkins, which makes the faculty keep pace with Modern variables in digitization and technology in a manner befitting the ancient name of Ain Shams University.
