Inauguration of Mahalawy auditorium at the Faculty of Medicine
In conjunction with the start of the new academic year, the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, receives its students with the opening of Dr. El Mahalawy auditorium as an architectural masterpiece equipped with the latest sound and lighting systems. Under the auspices of Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Dr. Hisham Okasha, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the listed National Bank, in the presence of Dr. Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, Eng. Mohamed Farouk Abdel Moneim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mobica, the executing company, Dr. Shahira Samir, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Osama Mansour, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Hebat Allah Al-Saeed, Vice Dean for Education and Students, Dr. Ali Al-Anwar, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Dr. Walid Anwar, Director of Ain Shams Specialized Hospital, Dr. Hisham Anwar, Deputy Director of Ain Shams Specialized Hospital, Dr. Samia Abdo, Deputy Director of Hospitals and Director of Infection Control, Dr. Jamal El-Khouly, owner of the runway design at the Engineering Consulting Office, directors of university hospitals, a group of deans of faculties, a group of department heads and faculty professors, Dr. Muhammad Nabih Muhammad Nagy Al-Mahlawi, the eldest son of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nagy al-Mahlawi, the former head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University’s Faculty of Medicine, and a group of Dr. Muhammad Nagy al-Mahlawi’s family.
         
   
         
Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, during his speech, indicated that the development of the auditorium represents a step within the university’s strategic plan that includes the establishment of Ain Shams Medical City, which includes all scientific, medical and construction axes, expressing his pride in the appearance of the auditorium in such a decent image that allows holding and hosting local and international conferences and seminars worthy of the name of Ain Shams University.
He also indicated that the Faculty of Medicine obtained a five-star rating in the QS evaluation as the first medical faculty in the Arab world to obtain this evaluation, praising the efforts of the current and previous management of the faculty to reach this evaluation.
He also added that the correct and powerful way to bring about any development is the successful partnerships between the various community organizations, appreciating the partnership with the National Bank and the Mobica Company.
Dr. Awad Tag El-Din expressed his pride in belonging to Ain Shams University and his happiness that the opening of the auditorium coincided with the celebration of the glorious October victories and the university’s obtaining a global rating and a five-star rating in the QS evaluation, praising the direction of the university administration and its sustainable efforts that are in line with the state’s strategic plan. Referring to some memories of the October victories and the reception of Ain Shams University hospitals for some of the injured in the October War, which confirms Ain Shams University's societal role throughout historical periods.
Mr. Hisham Okasha expressed his happiness in the partnership with Ain Shams University with the aim of supporting education in Egypt, as well as the association of the name of the National Bank with the name of a great scholar, Dr. Mohamed Nagy El Mahalawy.
Dr. Ashraf Omar said that the auditorium  is one of the largest halls of the Faculty of Medicine since its inception and witnessed the teaching of many generations of medical scientists in the Arab world, as part of the faculty’s plan to develop the teaching and learning environment, which includes a number of stages, and reviewed the journey of Dr. Mohamed Nagy El Mahalawy as an Egyptian nephrologist and former president of Ain Shams University who was the first to introduce the artificial kidney in Egypt and the Middle East, and a recipient of the Republic Medal of the First Class and the Medal of Merit of the Third and Fourth Class
Dr. Mohamed Nagy El-Mahalawy assumed the Deanship of the Faculty from 1967 to 1969, and headed Ain Shams University from 1974 to 1977.
Dr. Shahira Samir pointed out that the auditorium, which was established in the seventies of the last century with the concerted efforts of various civil society organizations, was developed with the latest sound and lighting systems to support the educational process, where the auditorium can accommodate more than a thousand students as a first stage of development, with a generous donation from the National Bank, implemented by Mobica, and the supervision of the University's Engineering Consultation Center.
     
 
     
A short film was also shown about the general perspective of Ain Shams Medical City and the National Bank's contributions to the construction, development and equipment work.
At the conclusion of the opening, Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, honored Mr. Hisham Okasha and Al-Ahly Bank team, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Moneim, and honored the name of Dr. Mohamed Nagy El Mahalawy.
