The Department of Arabic Language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun organizes an orientation day for newcomers

The Department of Arabic Language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, organized the orientation meeting for the new students of the first year in the semester system, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel Aal, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Nagwa Omar, head of the department, with the application of all intensive precautionary measures to prevent the risks of infection with the emerging corona virus.

The meeting was opened by Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, stressing that openness to everything that happens within the university corridors, and participation in the various activities provided by the university administration falls under the mechanisms of self-development to develop students’ abilities to guide the students’ path and develop their abilities in various fields; The university student is not just a recipient but an active participant in the educational process.

She explained that the Department of Arabic Language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, enjoys a distinguished reputation at the international level, since its inception; It combines two different schools, the Language Preservation School represented by Dar Al Uloom with its extensive experience and ability to preserve the strength of the authentic Arabic language, and the Modern Advanced Literary School that seeks to develop the Arabic language and Arabization of new foreign terms to keep pace with the Arabic language global technological developments while maintaining its well-established rules.

She referred to the various activities of the department, especially the celebration of the Arabic Language Day, which was decided by Prof. Dr.. Mahmoud Al-Matini, President of the University, circulated it at the university level, and the capabilities of the Arabic Language Department are used to teach Arabic to non-native speakers in various disciplines at the university level.

She referred to the Faculty's efforts as a single integrated unit in increasing specialized educational programs corresponding to international standards, with the aim of raising the distinguished educational level enjoyed by students at the Faculty of Al-Alsun in various departments at the level of the semester system and the credit system alike.

He pointed out the opening of three new programs this year to advance the educational process and expand the establishment of specialized programs to meet the needs of the labor market, namely the Italian, Spanish and German language departments, in addition to the Arabic language program for non-native speakers; Which is unique to the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University in the world, and is working to activate it in delicate circumstances after the new Corona pandemic that struck all over the world.

He added that these programs were launched in parallel with the establishment of state-of-the-art educational halls equipped with all advanced technological capabilities that provide distinguished educational spaces for Al-Alsun students. The faculty administration also did not forget to provide green space and a natural outlet for its children; The construction of an open space at the highest level for students to sit during the break between lectures is currently being completed.

She stressed that the state's strategic direction now is to develop the faculties’ own resources, so the credit hour system was the best option to provide self-resources capable of meeting the needs of developing classrooms and libraries for the semester system and creating a balance between the two systems by providing funding sources to further develop the educational process in less time.

   
   

She stressed the importance of implementing the presidential decisions related to the completion of the vaccination of college students and all its members by 100% to achieve the maximum levels of safety for students and the Egyptian community, which is today a national security issue for the Egyptian society.

While Prof. Dr. Nagwa Omar, Head of the Arabic Language Department, said that the student of the department will be provided with a package of sciences and knowledge.

She added that there is a merit in the foreign language that you choose for a period of six hours and they add to it that they study 4 hours of translation from and into Arabic, which is what distinguishes the Faculty of Al-Alsun from its theories at the level of Egyptian universities, in addition to the skills of scientific and critical research over the course of the four years.

Prof. Dr. Thana'a Kilani, stressed that no people respect their patriotism and underestimate their mother tongue, so the department is one of the most important departments that the college offers to Egyptian, Arab and foreign students, and clarified the students' various rights and duties towards the faculty.

While Prof. Dr. Somaya Saad, Department Coordinator, tackled the quality issue in this fast changing small village world; We found ourselves in front of new challenges and fierce competition in the labor market, so it became necessary for the department to pay attention to arming students with knowledge; Therefore, it was a direct reaction by developing the educational process and developing effective strategies to confront the labor market and prepare students for the labor market in accordance with accreditation standards. Everyone in educational institutions became responsible for quality, and she pointed to the role of the student in implementing quality, as he is on the path to increasing educational efficiency and the comprehensive advancement of students with the importance of belonging to the institution and preparing qualified generations to deal with various issues of concern to society and keep pace with the labor market.

She stressed the need for the student to take a course in the application of quality because it is the main focus of the educational process, and he must learn in lectures, but not only in the role of the recipient; It has to identify the objectives that the course seeks to get out of, identify the course descriptions, assist professors in the teaching and learning processes, ask questions and interact in lectures for learning, in addition to paying attention to field training and literacy to finish graduation requirements.

The events witnessed several professors in the department presenting their experiences in the fields of studying the Arabic language and working in it after graduation, as well as a documentary film showing the achievements of the college and department in the last three years.
