The Italian Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, organized the introductory meeting for the new first-year students in the semester system, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University and Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs and Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty and Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel Aal, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Marwa Abdel Moneim Tantawy, head of the department’s council, taking into account the application of preventive measures to confront the repercussions of the emerging corona virus covid19.
Dr. Marwa Abdel Moneim Tantawy, Head of the Department Council for New Students, pointed out the importance of studying the Italian language and the joint relations between Egypt and Italy, and Dr. Nadine Makram, teacher of Italian literature in the department and coordinator of the BA program, the history of the college and department, the courses offered by the BA program in Italian language and literature, and the importance of each course in shaping the student’s culture and preparing qualified graduates to work in various fields such as translation, journalism, teaching and tourism. She also pointed out the importance of the quality of education, the standards to be achieved, and the specifications of the graduate.
Dr. Basma Ezzat, teacher of Italian literature in the department, and student guidance coordinator, spoke on the role of the student advisor, the way the student benefits from office hours, the efforts made by the department to provide courses for blind students, the method of entering the college platform, the method of activating the e-mail and introducing them to the college library and study system.
Dr. Nermin Wageh, translation teacher in the department, ilusstrated the role of the student in preparing the achievement file and ways to follow up with the student advisor.
The students also got to know some of their teachers in the first year, including Dr. Sarah Ali, literature teacher in the department, who explained the study system and the basics of Italian language teaching.
Dr. Islam Fawzi, the assistant teacher in the department, talked about the importance of field training and the requirements that the student must undertake to finish the field training file, the places that provide training opportunities for the department’s students, and the student’s role in the literacy project and its importance.
Finally, the professors encouraged the students to follow the lectures on the podium and to be present at the faculty, while answering all their questions.
