The First International Conference of the Faculty of Archeology …Social Life and Economic Systems in Egypt

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, the Faculty of Archeology at the university is organizing the first international conference of the faculty online on Saturday and Sunday (30-31 October 2021). This was stated by Professor Dr. Mamdouh Al-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty.

He added that the conference deals with an important topic about social life and economic systems in Egypt in the Ptolemaic era, through a set of research papers that are being published for the first time.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Shoki, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, explained that English is the language of the conference, in which a group of archaeologists and civilization scholars from Egypt and around the world, such as Germany, Austria, France, Belgium and America, lecture.

Prof. Ali Abdel Halim, Professor, Head of the Department of Egyptian Archeology, and Prof. Dr. Noha Salem, Director of the Papyrus Studies Center at the Faculty of Archeology, stated that the participating topics vary between studies on villages, communities, priests, and linguistic means of communication, as well as royal finance during wars and private property, as well as on genealogy, and methods of raising children in Egypt during the Ptolemaic period.

It is worth mentioning that the conference opens with an important lecture on the continuity of social life from Pharaonic Egypt to Ptolemaic Egypt, delivered by Prof. Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty.
