Shams Unit at the Network and Information Technology Center organized a training workshop on Shams systems at the center’s headquarters, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and under the supervision of Dr. Islam Hegazy, Director of the Network and Information Technology Center at the University Ain Shams.
The workshop was attended by Eng. Mahmoud Abdel-Dayem, who dealt with several major systems of Shams, where the explanation and clarification were addressed to the electronic archive system, which is specialized in recording incoming and outgoing correspondence in the university's various departments and colleges.
He also referred to the system of councils, which includes college department councils, college councils, in addition to Ain Shams University councils, and university sector councils that include education, students, graduate studies, research, community service and environmental development.
The training workshop also dealt with the system of scientific devices, which includes mechanisms for listing the scientific and research devices in all university faculties, the date of their acquisition, maintenance, and their needs in terms of operating materials and places of distribution in the faculties. Through this system, any student or researcher at the university can know the devices that he can benefit from.
The workshop, which was held at the request of several bodies, departments and colleges at the university, targeted several employees from various departments and colleges.
On the sidelines of the workshop, Eng. Mahmoud Abdel-Dayem indicated that the needs of the various faculties and departments will be known to adapt the system used to suit the work requirements in each party.
For his part, Dr. Islam Hegazy, Director of the Network and Information Technology Center at Ain Shams University, explained that the Shams unit includes many systems that were launched during the years 2015-2016, namely: the electronic archive system, the council’s system, the scientific research system, the scientific devices system, the faculty members system Graduate Studies Decisions System, Security Approvals System for International Students and Theses System.
Hegazy pointed out that most of the systems are used in all faculties and departments, each according to its needs and specializations.
The Director of the Network and Information Technology Center at Ain Shams University noted that the processes of modernization and development are continuing the various systems, the latest of which was making updates to the systems of scientific theses, scientific devices, scientific research, and councils.
He explained that the theses system is a system that includes all theses that were granted at Ain Shams University by its researchers and students, in addition to theses from other Egyptian universities, pointing out that the system includes about 180,000 complete theses, some of which date back to the fifties.
As for the system of graduate studies decisions, it includes decisions for promotions and granting scientific studies, and regarding the system of faculty staff, it includes all the data of faculty staff in terms of their personal and scientific data.
Hegazy pointed out that during the last period, several training workshops were organized, aimed at introducing the updates that are made to the various systems, or when departments and colleges direct demands to hold training workshops on the systems.
