Ain Shams students won first place in the Fame Lab competition to participate in the Cheltenham Science Festival 2019

This was done during the semi-final round of the 2019 Laboratory competition organized by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in cooperation with the British Council, which was held at the Peace Theater on the sidelines of the Egyptian Science Month organized by the Academy in March of each year. Nine contestants were selected from 21 contestants after being filtered by a jury of elite professors in various fields with the aim of escalating the finalists. The first and second winners were fully sponsored to represent Egypt in the international competition at the Cheltenham Science Festival in the United Kingdom. June 2019, which is attended by more than 26 countries around the world.

The Academy is the national partner of the international fame lab competition as of 2017. The competition has witnessed great progress and the Academy offers all technical, material and literary support in partnership with the British Council in Cairo.

It is worth mentioning that the number of contestants who have passed the tests of performance 350 contestants out of 1663 contestants from 26 provinces participated in the competition this year extended from Aswan and the New Valley through Luxor, Qena, Assiut, Sohag and even North Sinai and Kafr El Sheikh.

This took place in the framework of the new system that the competition takes through the electronic platform to present a scientific subject in an interesting and innovative way to prove their abilities in 3 minutes; to reach all provinces instead of shortening their stay in five provinces just as it was in previous years. Some participants were unable to reach any of the six provinces where local tours were held because of the distance barrier, which increased the number of contestants and encouraged more interested in science to participate in the competition, who had never had the opportunity to participate.
