Under the slogan "We are able..." Ain Shams University and the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center celebrate People of Determination

Under the auspices and with the presence of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, and in the presence of Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Dr.. Mahmoud El-Matini, President of the University and the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center headed by Anba Jeremiah, General Bishop and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, organized a celebration of the people of determination, under the slogan “We are able,” in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abd El-Wahab Ezzat, former university president, Prof. Dr. Abd El-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Representative Phoebe Fawzy, Vice-President of the Senate, Prof. Dr. Osama El-Sayed, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Amani Hanafi, the former dean of the college and the college agents Prof. Dr. Reem Al-Kabariti, President of the University's Alumni Association, Prof. Dr. Tarik Mansour, former Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Dr.. Heba Shaheen, Director of the University's Media Center, Dr. Hanan Al-Saeed, Director of the Blended Learning Center.

         
   
         

Anba Jeremiah, the General Bishop and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, welcomed the attendees, and referred to the center’s efforts since its opening in 2008 in providing cultural, educational and training services to all categories of the Egyptian society, signing a cooperation protocol with Ain Shams University 2016 and working together to qualify sign language trainers to serve the education of deaf and weak hearing students in the Faculty of Specific Education at Ain Shams University.

He praised the efforts made by Ain Shams University administration represented by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini and the Vice Presidents of the University; Prof. Dr. Abd El-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Hanan Al-Saeed, Director of the Blended Education Center, activates the cooperation protocol and strengthens aspects of cooperation between the two sides in various fields, in a way that supports our children of determination.

He also congratulated Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, the graduates from deaf and hard of hearing students, and thanked the faculty members of the Faculty of Specific Education for their efforts in educating students with determination and rehabilitating them to serve the community.

         
   
         

Also Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, saluted the faculty staff at Ain Shams University, and the families of deaf and hard of hearing students and praised the role of Ain Shams University as a national entity that actively participates in the state’s development efforts and in creating real awareness, and praised the efforts to develop legislation and community integration for people of determination and the state’s efforts to improve their lives, transform disability into energy, and spread the culture of difference, support efforts for early detection and intervention of cases of people of determination, and facilitate their integration into nurseries, schools and universities.

Pope Tawadros II praised the importance of cooperation between various institutions, praising the efforts of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Ain Shams University and the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center in providing effective partnerships to serve humanity.

He praised the efforts of the state and various institutions in offering hope to relieve people of determination and opening the door of hope for the deaf and hard of hearing for rehabilitation and education. He thanked God for his many gifts and thanked all institutions: the Ministry of Social Solidarity, universities and the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center for their efforts in serving society and humanity.

The choir of the deaf and hard of hearing presented an artistic performance entitled “I dream of a place.” At the end of the celebration, Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, honored Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Abd El-Wahab Ezzat, the former university president and Prof. Dr. Abd El-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and a number of leaders of the Faculty of Specific Education, Ain Shams University, sign language trainers and students.
