Ain Shams University supports the African continent by opening the first unit for the treatment of stroke in Somalia

In continuation to the efforts of Ain Shams University headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini in support of the African neighboring countries, the first unit for the treatment of stroke was opened at the level of the eastern African continent in the State of Somalia, in cooperation between Ain Shams University Hospitals and Al-Jazeera Teaching Hospitals in the State of Somalia.

Ain Shams University Hospitals, especially Ain Shams Virtual Hospital, support remote detection and patient care, as well as providing academic and practical education for medical staff in the State of Somalia working in the stroke treatment unit, in addition to technical support for electronic data registration of patient, and the creation of an archived database that includes Their medical and health history.

This was stated by Prof. Dr. Tamer Emara, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University and Director of the International Cooperation Office at the faculty.

It is noteworthy that Ain Shams University has launched the first postgraduate degree in medicine in the State of Somalia, and a master's degree in ophthalmology was awarded to five students, within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed between Ain Shams University and Al Jazeera University in Mogadishu, Somalia, sponsored by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chairman of the Hospitals Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Sherif Elwan, Professor and former Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Jaafar, Professor of Ophthalmology, Ain Shams University.

Where the university supervised the teaching of courses, training students at Ain Shams University hospitals, establishing the organizational structure for assessment and examination, and giving lectures remotely through Ain Shams Virtual Hospital.

This cooperation is the culmination of the Egyptian-African relations and the joint cooperation between the two countries, given that Egypt is the heart of the African continent.
