Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, opened the Network and Information Technology Center at Ain Shams University, today in the presence of Engineer Raafat Al-Hindi, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Infrastructure, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Saleh Hashem, Prof. Dr. Hussein Essa, former President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir Director of the International Relations Sector, Prof. Dr. Yasser Megahid, Director of the Engineering Consultation Center, and a group of deans of faculties, directors of centers and technology units in various faculties of the university.
Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, expressed his great happiness at the opening of the Network and Information Technology Center at the university after its renewal, stressing that it represents an important technological leap for the university, noting that this center is witnessing a great development during the coming period in line with the digital transformation that the world is witnessing.
He praised the efforts of the University's Engineering Consultation Center in designing and supervising the implementation of the Network and Information Technology Center.
Prof. Dr. Islam Hegazy, Director of Networks and Information Technology Center at the university, said that the opening of the day aims to keep pace with the latest technological developments, as the university has an area of 150 terabytes of storage units, new network security devices and about 30 modern servers, and this coincided with the increase in the university’s internet speed to 2 gigabytes/ The university and its colleges, administration and hospitals, where all units of information technology were included in one building in implementation of the university’s vision of integrating all units within one building that includes the infrastructure and networks unit, the university electronic system unit, the digital services unit and the university portal unit.
Prof. Dr. Nagwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, reviewed the method of preparing a smart university program, linking the electronic portal, the data bank, the various university databases, and the various electronic services provided to the student, including electronic payment and identification of academic courses, providing access to the results of assessments, as well as services for graduates and obtaining certificates, among others. .
Prof. Dr. Rasha Ismail, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs and Deputy Director of the Network and Information Technology Center for the electronic portal, referred to the aims to achieve the objectives of the main portal of the university, which is concerned with establishing and operating the electronic portal of the university and its affiliated facilities and units to provide a number of services for faculty staff, students and workers, in addition to scientific research services and sectors services such as creating, managing and maintaining websites for university units, as well as creating and following up forms for publishing news on the university’s website, designing friendly and interactive interfaces with users and making available the university’s electronic management system services through the university’s website and facilitating and quick access to the electronic services it provides, the services that provides it.
Prof . Dr. Mona Abdel Aal, Director of the University Education Development Department, highlighted the importance of Ain Shams University’s asu2learn e-learning platform, the asu2test question bank, and the electronic measurement system, in addition to virtual lab applications that benefit students from 10 faculties, in addition to developing undergraduate and graduate programs, and preparing electronic exams for the Faculties of Medicine and Al-Alsun. Developing the capabilities of faculty members.
Moreover, Prof. Dr. Hanan Al-Saeed, Director of Blended Learning Center, added to the services and programs provided by the center, which includes 4 basic programs in several faculties, including: Faculty of Business, Agriculture, Girls and Education, in addition to cooperation from 10 public universities, explaining that the center has external agencies in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and the center also offers 12 professional diplomas, training tracks and provision of programs for a number of institutions.
