Children of the Child University visit the Faculties of Medicine and Engineering at Ain Shams University

The Faculties of Medicine and Engineering at Ain Shams University received children participating in the activities of the Children's University, which are organized by Ain Shams University during the period from 5-17 February 2022, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector at Ain Shams University, and Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Coordinator of the Child University at Ain Shams University and Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Department, in addition to Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, and Dr. Gina Elfeki, Executive Director of the Program.

The visit was coordinated by Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, and the children were received at the Faculty of Medicine by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Osama Mansour, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, and a. Dr. Shahira Samir, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. The visit included a tour of the faculty's various auditoriums, the library, and computer labs.

One of the children gave a short lecture on how the heart works, and Dr. Shaima Ibrahim, a teacher in the chest department, giving a lecture on proper food and measures to protect against the Corona virus.

After that, the children went to the Faculty of Engineering, where they were received by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Munib Al-Sabbagh, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Al-Banna, Assistant Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Omar Muhammad Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty.

The children visited Le Pen's workshop, which is being established at the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, which works to provide students from various engineering disciplines with practical skills in the areas of energy extraction, maintenance of digital operating machines and car maintenance.

Then they visited the digitization and dynamic systems lab, where it was a good opportunity for students to learn and get acquainted with the different engineering fields, and a comprehensive tour was made of all the labs.

It was a valuable tour of different sciences, so the students were able to learn about virtual reality programs such as creating virtual tours and seeing a stereo model of the Khufu pyramid and the corridors inside it. It was explained how to make a three-dimensional stereoscopic using laser technology and photogrammetry and how to use these technologies in the production of a three-dimensional stereotype and its applications.

After that, the destination was to the Acoustics and Vibrations Laboratory, where the satellites and the materials' tolerance to vibrations were tested.

Then the students gathered in the theater to attend a lecture in which a group of laboratory researchers under the supervision of Dr. Amr Al-Banhawi talked about the projects presented to serve the state in increasing the reliance on new and renewable energy, whether by wind turbines or by recycling agricultural waste to produce clean fuels for the environment that reduce the dangers of environmental pollution and global warming. The students also heard about the lab’s contribution to helping the medical staff through simulating human vascular systems using images from endoscopes to guide them in planning operations, and in the end, they let the students’ minds free to imagine and opened the way for them to think and question.
