The Faculty of Pharmacy at Ain Shams University received the children participating in the fourth and fifth stages of the Children's University organized by Ain Shams University, during the period 5-17 February 2022, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Academy of Scientific and Technological Research, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector at Ain Shams University, Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Coordinator of the Child University at Ain Shams University and Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Department, and Dr. Gina Elfeki, Executive Director of the Program at the Academy.
The visit was coordinated by Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, the children were received by a. Dr. Amani Osama Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, who welcomed the children as the future youth and conducted friendly dialogues with them.
Prof. Dr. Amani Osama Kamel confirmed that the visit aims to develop the creative spirit of the children and expand their perceptions, which will help them solve any problems or obstacles they may face in the future, whether at the personal level or at the community level, as well as help them launch their own projects in the future.
She added that during the day, children's inquiries and questions were answered through the work team, which includes Dr. Mai Tawfik Abdo, assistant teacher in the pharmacology department and program coordinator at the Faculty, Dr. Dina Abdel-Aty, assistant teacher in the Pharmaceutics Department, Dr. Sheren Al-Qurash, teaching assistant in the Biochemistry Department, and Dr. Nourhan Al-Shami, teaching assistant in the Department of Pharmacology. microbiology.
Dr. Amani Osama Kamel indicated that the children were divided into two groups, the first group from the age of (9-10) years and the second group from the age of (10-11) with approximately 50 children in each group. The children of the first group visited the pharmacies department, and participated in preparing preparations Pharmaceutical (emulsion), then visit the Analytical Chemistry Department, where two experiments were conducted, then went to the Pharmacology Department, and the second group visited the Microbiology Department, then went to the Analytical Chemistry Department.
For her part, Dr. Noha Al-Rafei thanked the Faculty of Pharmacy, headed by Prof. Dr. Amani Osama Ali’s participation in the program, pointing out that the Children’s University project was launched in 2015 and was able to provide services to more than 18,000 students. Students are free of charge and in a successful partnership with Egyptian universities, about (45) universities, the most important of which is “Ain Shams University”, which during the first stage (2015-2016) provided about 190 children, and in the second stage (2016-2017) about 160 children, and in the stage The third (2018 - 2019): about 140 children, but the project was stopped due to the repercussions of the emerging corona virus, and the fourth and fifth phases have now resumed, with about 160 children, pointing out that the current two phases include children aged 9-11 years.
