Ain Shams University Children's Hospital supports sick children and their families with awareness sessions, recreational activities and gifts

On the occasion of the International Day for Cancer and Oncology Patients, which falls on February 4 of each year, and in the interest of Ain Shams University to participate in the community with all segments of society and provide all services to them, the Children's Hospital at Ain Shams University Hospitals organized an event to support sick children and their families, in partnership and cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Hospitals Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Anwar, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Dr. Samia Abdo, Deputy Executive Director of Hospitals and Director of Infection Control at Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Dr. Manal Hamdi, Head of the Pediatric Department at Children's Hospital, and Prof. Dr. Yasmine Gamal, Director of the Children's Hospital, Ain Shams University.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Yasmine Gamal, Director of the Children's Hospital, stated that the activities of the day are directed to patients attending the outpatient clinics and residents inside the hospital, and included the implementation of a number of workshops and health awareness sessions and psychosocial support to highlight the importance of attention to mental health and its importance to patients and their families, in addition to providing gifts to patients and their families through a program carried out by the Red Crescent during the day

The events also included awareness sessions for patients’ families to enhance and raise their psychological motivation, conducting awareness sessions on personal and general hygiene and explaining precautionary measures in light of the spread of the Corona epidemic, implementing recreational activities for children (puppet theater - drawing and coloring workshops) in addition to distributing gifts to children, in addition to conduct psychological support sessions for the families.

Prof. Dr. Manal Hamdi, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, explained that today's meeting expresses the partnership and continuous support between Ain Shams University and the Red Crescent, pointing to the organization of activities continuously in cooperation between the two parties to support sick children and their families in the form of an entertainment program, the positive impact of which helps children who visit the hospital in psychological aspects Social which positively affects their response to different treatments.
