The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Childhood at Ain Shams University organized a symposium entitled "Human skills and their relationship to improving the quality of life for university students", under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Howayda Al-Gebali, Dean of the Faculty, and the organization and supervision of Prof. Dr. Randa Kamal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.
Present at the symposium, Prof. Dr. Jamal Shafik Ahmed, Professor of Clinical Psychology, Department of Child Psychological Studies, and coordinator of the symposium Prof. Dr. Hoda Gamal, head of the Department of Psychological Studies for Children at the Faculty.
Prof. Dr. Randa Kamal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, emphasized in her opening speech during the symposium that it is necessary for all groups of society to know the human skills that they must possess, and their importance is not limited to that of university students only, as human skills include psychological concepts that are considered the highest normal person has the ability to give its owner the ability to have a clear vision about his existence and his importance in life, and happiness is closely related to mental health, human skills, peace and psychological perfection, calling the audience to learn about the most important human skills.
She added that the symposium aims to achieve psychological, family and academic compatibility among university students.
Prof. Dr. Gamal Shafik, the professor in the Department of Children’s Psychological Studies at the faculty, during the events, explained the concept of human skills, which is synonymous with mental health, emotional balance, psychological and family harmony, and includes the ability to take responsibility and make decisions with the ability to bear the consequences of this decision, and Prof. Dr. Gamal Shafik illustrated the importance of developing human skills and how to develop them, specifying the role of developing human skills in improving the quality of life for university students in the psychological, family and academic fields.
He referred to the relationship of human skills with improving the quality of life, and touched upon the definition of quality of life, which includes a feeling of psychological security, reassurance, love, acceptance, love of God and family, and that a person is satisfied with himself and the world around him.
He cited several verses from the Noble Qur’an that call for patience and steadfastness in the face of adversity and trials, stressing the necessity of linking with God, preserving the relationship with the Creator, the Mighty and Sublime, and preserving the self, self, dignity and pride.
