President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, issued a decision appointing Prof. Dr. Osama Ahmed Ali El-Behairy as Dean of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Agricultural Research in Arid Regions, Ain Shams University, until the date of his Excellency the legal age set for the end of service on 17/6/2023.
It is noteworthy that Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Behairi was acting dean of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Agricultural Research in the Arid Regions from March 2017 until the issuance of the decision to appoint him as Dean of the Institute, and he also holds the position of Director of the Agricultural Services and Research Center in Arid Regions (ALARC) since July 2019 until now, as well. He held the position of Director of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Agricultural Research in the Arid Regions (ALARI) from July 2008 until March 2017, Director of the Agricultural Services and Research Center in the Arid Regions (ALARC), from August 2008 until July 2013, and Head of the Terrestrial Agriculture Department of the Agricultural Climate Laboratory.
He was graduated from a teaching assistant in the Department of Horticulture at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, then an assistant teacher in the same department, then a teacher of vegetables, then an assistant professor of vegetables, then a professor of vegetables at the Department of Horticulture since June 2007 until now.
Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Behairi has participated in many research projects, and was director and member of many research projects from 2007 to 2021 for more than (20) research projects in various fields of agriculture (protected crops, water use efficiency and vegetables) at the international and local levels.
He is also a member of a number of international associations, such as the International Society of Terrestrial Cultivations (ISOSC), the International Society of Horticulture (ISHS) and the Egyptian Society of Horticulturalists.
Prof. Dr. Osama El-Behairy also participated in many international conferences and workshops (more than 13 international conferences and workshops) in addition to participating in many local conferences in the field of hydroponics and rooftop farming in Egypt.
He also held a consultative position in a number of international organizations, in addition to his participation in national projects and working as a consultant to many government agencies
Prof. Dr. Osama El-Behairy also participated in preparing and reviewing many agricultural books in the various fields of agriculture, in addition to participating in a number of training courses inside and outside Egypt.
He also had a prominent role in contributing to the establishment of the Agricultural Research and Services Center in Arid Regions, the establishment of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Agricultural Research in Arid Regions, and the establishment of the Sob site at Mohamed Naguib Base.
