The importance of adult education, the role of the university and community participation... An introductory seminar for students of the Faculty of Agriculture

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Galal, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, the Faculty held an introductory seminar on the importance of adult education, the role of the university and the community participation of students of the Faculty of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Adult Education.

The seminar came in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Ashour Omari, head of the General Authority for Adult Education, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nabil Al-Madani, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Hisham Al-Hariri, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Islam Al-Saeed, Director of the Adult Education Center and General Coordinator of the University's Literacy Eradication Project, and Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Bassiouni, Director of the Literacy Unit at the Faculty of Agriculture.

During the symposium, the role of universities was discussed, and that they are not only educational institutions, but also have a prominent role in community development efforts and have a supportive role for the national project to eradicate illiteracy and the ambitious plan put forward by His Excellency the President of the Republic, (Sustainable Development Plan 2030), which aims to invest the available capabilities in the field of adult education. and young people alike, and that education and knowledge are a human right, and that qualified human wealth capable of facing the challenges of the age is a measure of nations’ progress. Hence, it was necessary to invest in adult education as a human force to empower and qualify them and provide them with scientific and life skills.

   
   

The generous platform was keen to emphasize the role of college students in spreading societal awareness and positive impact on the surrounding environment, and that one of the student’s graduation requirements is the literacy of 4 persons in return for a financial incentive as a form of encouragement from the state.
