The Faculty of Arts hosts a seminar introducing the mechanisms and objectives of the Women's Support and Empowerment Unit

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Mostafa Mortada, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit, headed by Prof. Dr. Hind El-Helali, Executive Director of the Unit, celebrated the Egyptian Women’s Day, which falls on the sixteenth of March of each year, hosted by the Faculty of Arts, where the unit organized an educational seminar to introduce the mechanisms and objectives of the Support and Empowerment Unit Women in cooperation with the General Administration of Women's Culture in the Central Administration for Studies and Research.

With the participation of Prof. Dr. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Rasha Al-Didi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Dina Howaidi, Director General of the General Administration of Women's Culture in the Central Administration for Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Abeer Saad, Director of Women's Research Department, General Administration of Women's Culture.

     
 
     

Prof. Dr. Hanan Kamel, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Education and Student Affairs, pointed out the role of the university in supporting women through the presence of a unit that takes care of all women's problems and solves their issues and supports it through seminars and workshops provided by the Unit for Combating Violence against Women, in addition to many health awareness campaigns, educational seminars and technical workshops that the university organizes it through its various sectors in the belief that women are half of society and influence and educate the other half with their different roles within the family as a sister and a son.

Prof. Dr. Hend Al-Hilali said that Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, sets laws that help empower women and achieve a safe university environment for them free from bullying, discrimination or any form of psychological violence, referring to the role of the Anti-Violence and Harassment Unit in achieving this, In addition to the support provided by the National Council for Women and the United Nations Population Fund for Unity in achieving its goals.

She also spoke about violence against women, noting that it is divided into psychological or physical violence, and that violence is not only related to women, but violence may be practiced from a man to a man or from a woman to a woman.

Her Excellency also reviewed the unit's most important achievements and how it works inside and outside the university campus, as the first unit at the level of Egyptian universities, based on scientific foundations to combat all forms of violence directed against women inside the university as well as domestic violence, and submits its reports to the university president directly to take deterrent measures against any student or professor He issued a position that is not appropriate for him to act on the university campus, and this step is considered the strength and support provided by the university, after presenting to consultants and writing the report, in addition to working to calm the girl and confront her problem.

     
 
     

Prof. Dr. Fayrouz Mahmoud, a professor of geography at the Faculty of Girls and a consultant on violence against women, said that the unit carries out a diversified activity that benefits the student inside and outside the university campus. She also praised the supportive effort of the university and its leadership in implementing the unit's strategies and creating a safe environment for female students, faculty members and all working under the umbrella of the university.

Dr. Dina Howaidi, Director General of the General Administration for Women's Culture, explained the awareness and educational role that the administration plays to contribute to building the family and preserving its entity and its gains as a basic cell of society. She also indicated that the conference focuses on issues of the era of digitization and the impact of technology on women in particular and the family in general, in addition to transformation in the new digital economy to focus on exploring opportunities and challenges related to the scale of women's participation. She emphasized the importance of focusing on the role of digitization in influencing the cultural identity and value system of Arab women.

As reported by Prof. Dr. Ayman Gamil Professor of Criminal Law that the Legislative Framework for the Legal Protection of Women is a great development that has occurred in the criminal law to support and protect women from harassment and the legal measures that they must take in case they are exposed to any kind of violence or extortion.

Dr. Amany Abdel Aal, clinical psychologist and consultant for window training and art therapy, tackled the causes of happiness and how the girl takes care of her mental health, and provided a psychological prescription to achieve happiness and create a healthy psychological environment, including spirituality, meditation, reading books, listening to music, seclusion for a short period, expanding the network of positive social relations and positive thinking.

After the seminar, a self-defense training workshop was conducted by Dr. Amany Abdel Aal, Clinical Psychologist, Window Training Consultant and Art Therapy.

On the sidelines of the seminar, a charity clothing exhibition was held for students of the Faculty of Arts, the return of which is directed to the benefit of the Children's Hospital in Demerdash.
