The Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University organized a celebration on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee and the 75th anniversary of the issuance of its founding decree since 1947, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Awad Tag El-Din, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs and former Minister of Health, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Okasha, President of the General Assembly of Psychiatry and Adviser to the President of the Republic for Psychiatry, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Hatem, Chairman of the Health Committee of the House of Representatives, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr.. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Dr. Osama Mansour, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Heba Allah Saeed, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, former university president, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Abed, former university president, Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Sengab, the former Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and a group of faculties' deans, vice-deans, department heads, faculty staff and the teaching assistants.
Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, welcomed the university's guests and the attendees from the former university presidents, former and current deputies, former and current deans, guests of the celebration, and faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. El-Matini praised the role of the faculty staff as he is one of the sons of that great medical edifice, which drew from the knowledge of its professors and learned in its precincts, stressing that this great event deserves to be celebrated, pointing to the endeavor of the Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine to be one of the 50 best Facultys in the world during the next five years.
He pointed out that the global ranking has become a frantic struggle, posing more challenges and we have to make more effort to catch up, wishing the Faculty, with future generations, to reach the highest grades in the classification of local and international medical Facultys, as the rates of development in the world are fast and successive and we strive to keep pace with it, pointing out that the Ain Shams Medical City will be completed within months to become a city we are all proud of.
Prof. Dr. Mahmoud called for the publication of a book that monitors the history of the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University, in which the faculty’s professors participate, through great figures who have knowledge of everything that the faculty has gone through since its inception and with the participation of successive generations and all professors who have a talent for writing.
El-Metini stated that a museum for the Faculty of Medicine of Ain Shams University will be established on the campus of the Faculty of Medicine, and that the nucleus of the museum has been laid, the heritage of the faculty will be collected, and oil paintings will be prepared for all the deans throughout the history of the faculty, and within weeks the museum will be completed as a documentation of the history of the Faculty of Medicine of Ain Shams University with the national role over the years.
As one of the sons of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Awad Tag El-Din began his journey in the Faculty and was chosen as an agent for the Faculty since the golden jubilee of the Faculty from 25 years, until his arrival to the position of advisor to the President of the Republic for health and preventive affairs, explaining that the Faculty of Medicine is an important part of the history of Egypt and a witness to the growth, prosperity and struggle of this country.
Ain Shams University hospitals had a role during the October War, as the emergency hospital was equipped to receive the wounded of the October War, noting that he did not leave the hospital for 3 months during the war to play his role as a doctor, as he learned patriotism, science and ethics of science at the hands of a wonderful generation of scientists and professors.
Dr. Awad Tag El-Din praised the role of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University in graduating great leaders at the university and state level and obtaining high positions as ministers of health and population, as well as its role since the country witnessed crises such as the Cairo fire, the war of attrition and receiving the wounded in the 73 war and finally the Corona pandemic, as it showed the world the capabilities of this The great edifice, noting that the Faculty of Medicine has a long history and a prestigious and national role since its inception, as it was not only a great medical school, but rather an academic, educational, and scientific institution that created great generations in the medical field.
On his part, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Okasha expressed his happiness at his presence on such occasions because these celebrations are a great investment in a person's life, as the presence of an individual with colleagues of his different age and school stages is a happiness that cannot be compensated, stressing that a person cannot find other colleagues of this age. Therefore, it was recommended by Dr. Ahmed Okasha to forgive our colleagues whatever the mistakes, recognizing our identity and belonging to our families and the family of Ain Shams medicine in particular, and being proud of our roots, and thinking of others more than ourselves, and finally paying attention to the future goal of investing in people and patients.
Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar said that thanks to the efforts of the faculty’s former and current professors, the faculty has reached this prestigious position, who are always striving hard to reach the highest rank. -200 worldwide, explaining that Demerdash Pasha, when he donated this edifice, which is the surgery hospital currently, demanded the treatment of patients free of charge, so we strive to develop hospitals and complete the Ain Shams Medical City to achieve the goal of Demerdash Pasha.
Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir indicated that as part of the faculty's celebration of its 42nd conference, which was called Ain Shams Scientific Week several years ago, the latest findings in science were discussed, explaining that 56 countries and 28 departments and units participated in this year's activities, with the attendance of 7575 individuals who attended. Of them, 1790 individuals, and 5885 people attended online.
She added that coinciding with the end of the conference yesterday, the class of 2020 was graduated, and today its diamond jubilee is celebrated, explaining that the faculty, in cooperation with the Mint, provided special coins for the celebration, one of which is a gold coin with a value of one pound and the other a silver coin with a value of five pounds, part of its financial return will return to Nahdet Medicine Ain Shams Association.
She also recited a short poem on behalf of Prof. Dr. Yasser Mustafa, Head of the Chest Department.
then Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Shazly, professor of orthopedics, class of 1997, one of the professors of the middle generation in a line of great professors, said, “I realized that there is a secret in this college called giving that began since its first inception, and that the cornerstone was carrying in its components a plant for good that grew and bred to transform into a great edifice named Ain Shams Medical City"
He added that giving is the most prominent behavior that brings together all the students of the college, students, professors and workers, citing Dr. Al-Binhawi and Dr. Al-Mahlawi, how they had a great imprint that developed from this edifice, so stands were built in their names.
During the celebration, a documentary film was shown about the college’s journey since its inception. The film included a display of laboratories, classrooms, hospitals, and units in the college. The heads of departments whose term of office will end this year were honored.
