The energy efficiency team in Egyptian universities visits Ain Shams University

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, received representatives of the German Development and Reconstruction Bank (KfW) and the head of Gopa Infra work team, in the first of a series of visits to Egyptian public universities scheduled to take place Within the framework of the "Raising Energy Efficiency in Egyptian Universities" project, on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

Prof. Dr. Ghada Bassiouni, Head of the Project Unit and Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Engineer Ghada Ghaleb, Coordinator of Technical Follow-up in the unit, and Dr. Walid Al-Khitam, Director of the Center of Excellence for Energy Rationalization funded by the US grant of 30 million US dollars USAID participated in the visit.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, welcomed the team and expressed his happiness with this visit, wishing the project team success and success.

On his part, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz gave an overview of Ain Shams University and the number of faculties and students. He also touched on the developments that the university is witnessing in the field of infrastructure, the development of old buildings and newly constructed buildings that have been completed, as well as the projects related to raising energy efficiency and the funding that was monitored for it and the funding bodies, as well as funding from Accepted by the Central Bank of Egypt to implement energy-related projects.

Prof. Hisham Tamraz also took the attendees on a tour of the university campus. The tour included some newly built university buildings inside and outside the university campus (the university city) equipped with units and devices to raise energy efficiency.

To complete the field tour, the team went to the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, where they were received by Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
