The English Department of the Faculty of Arts organizes a series of activities to enhance students' skills

The Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University announced the launch of the English Language and Literature Program with a credit-hour system, a series of multiple activities to enhance the professional and general skills of students.

In this context, an event entitled "The English Language Department of Environment and Health and its Path Towards" was organized under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mortada, Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Hanan Kamel, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, supervised by Prof. Dr. Sheren Mazloum, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Eman Al-Baqari, Head of the English Department, Dr. Doaa Imbabi, program coordinator and coordination of Dr. Enas Al-Ibrashi, assistant professor in the department responsible for student activities.

         
   
         

Dr. Namira Negm, the Ambassador at the Foreign Ministry and responsible for the environment file in Africa, guest of the seminar, which was organized to talk about linking the local Egyptian reality to the regional context and the role of man in preserving his environment with all its components of land and water, stressed the role of the African Union in preserving the environment and natural resources in Africa and also addressed the difficulties that may relate to environment-related negotiations.

She explained that there is an inevitable overlap between the daily living aspects of the environment and the linguistic reality associated with discussions between countries to protect the local environment and preserve the natural environment.

For his part, writer, novelist and linguist, professor of theology John Daniel spoke about the relationship of the environment with language, the relationship of preserving the earth and life on it, and our role as human beings with some linguistic aspects.

A debate was also held between two teams of fourth-level students (second year) on the advantages and disadvantages of adhering to a strict vegetarian diet (vegan), its benefits and harms, and the relationship of the human diet to the environment. Students from both teams presented their views in English in a comprehensive and objective manner.

Dr. Somaya Sabry, accompanied by another group of students, led a group of activities on social responsibility under the umbrella of the Egyptian Rotary Club, to focus on improving the living environment, not just the natural environment. Achievements made within the framework of reviving and renewing the department's library.

         
   
         

A creative writing competition, photography, and watercolor and oil painting competitions and graphic design were also held, in addition to the use of designs in preparing separator paper tags for books to keep the memory alive in celebration of this topic and today).

Prof. Dr. Magda Haroun and Prof. Dr. Silvia Pham, Dr. Rana Al-Khouli, professors Naira Saad, Ragia Al-Saeed, Israa Yousry and Reham Al-Hawary, in addition to a large number of the department's graduates participate in the activities, in order to ensure continuous and permanent communication with the department.

Paper marks for books, designed by the students, and certificates of appreciation were distributed to all students, in the belief of the program in the necessity of celebrating everyone who participates and contributes to the constructive interaction between all members of the department, professors and students.
