Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University celebrates the International Day of the Portuguese Language

The Department of Portuguese Language, Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, organized a celebration on the occasion of the International Day of the Portuguese Language, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Aisha Swailem, supervisor of the department, and in the presence of Dr. Irma Gonzalith, Cultural Counselor at the Portuguese Embassy in Egypt, in the presence of a group of faculty staff, support staff and faculty students.

         
   
         

During her speech, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, said that the Faculty is keen to organize various events that contribute to raising students’ linguistic abilities and instilling a foreign culture in their conscience, in addition to study materials to achieve the maximum possible benefit for the foreign’s children, she explained that the new department is witnessing the third day in general, after the concerted efforts of the university headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of the University of Education and Student Affairs, with the college administration to establish the department and support it with professors and specialists from the State of Portugal, to become a nucleus for preparing a new generation skilled in the Portuguese language from the sons of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University.

The celebration activities witnessed the department’s students presenting a documentary film in Portuguese about the most famous tourist places in Egypt. The students also presented a Portuguese play by the Portuguese writer Jose Sarmadu, a cultural competition was also organized in Portuguese about the most important Portuguese writers. Finally, the students presented documentaries about the Brazilian civilization, the most important features of Brazilian society, and other cultural items.
