The Department of Anesthesia, Central Care and Pain Treatment at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University organized the 8th conference on the role of the Department of Anesthesia, Central Care and Pain Treatment in the Corona pandemic and the sacrifices made by the department from the lives of its members in the service of citizens, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr.. Sherif Wadih, Head of Anesthesia Department and President of the Conference, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Preventive Affairs.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Awad Tag El-Din, said that the role of the historical department was not limited to the needs of Corona, but its comprehensive role has been since the beginning of the Faculty of Medicine.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, reviewed the heroic role of the Department of Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Treatment, in addition to all the various departments of the faculty.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Wadih, Head of the Department of Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Management, and President of the Conference, addressed the extent of the giving of the department’s sons and the sacrifices they made, as some of his professor and faculty members sacrificed their lives during the pandemic.
He also talked about the full service of all isolation hospitals at Ain Shams University, in addition to the continuation of providing medical service to all patients at Ain Shams University Hospitals.
It was announced by A. Dr.. Sherif Wadih about an upcoming conference in cooperation with the Universities of Cairo, Al-Azhar and Alexandria, which deals with the interest in evaluating the patient before performing anesthesia.
The conference was attended by many university presidents, department heads and professors from all universities of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in addition to several specializations such as chest diseases, children, mental health, laboratory, and clinical pharmacy.
The lectures were delivered by some experts from the department working in the United Kingdom, and they praised the work and clinical systems within the work system in Ain Shams University Hospitals.
On the sidelines of the conference, the process of separating conjoined twins and its resounding success was also reviewed. Prof. Dr. Hossam Hosny, Head of the Scientific Committee at the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Fawzy Al-Soudah, President of Teaching Hospitals.
The conference recommended the importance of continuing specialized conferences with the participation of all disciplines and universities, while continuing to document scientific work for future generations.
