Ain Shams University celebrates the International Day for cleaning and disinfecting hands during the month of May

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Anwar, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, and Prof. Dr. Samia Abdo, Deputy Executive Director of Hospitals and Director of Infection Control in Hospitals and University, Ain Shams University celebrated the International Day for Cleaning and Disinfection of Hands during the month of May 2022 inside each of Ain Shams University hospitals and in the presence of the director of each hospital.

The International Day for Disinfection and Handwashing aims to remind people around the world of the need to adhere to hand hygiene in health care facilities and others, to protect health care workers and patients from the risk of transmission, and is celebrated annually in May of each year.

         
   
         

Washing and disinfecting hands is one of the most effective measures that can be taken to reduce the spread of pathogens and prevent infection, including the emerging (Corona) virus. Health workers and community members alike can play a role in preventing infection by practicing regular hand washing.

Global Handwashing Day is an opportunity to raise awareness and understand the importance of hand washing with soap as an effective and inexpensive method; To prevent disease and save lives.

   
   

It is also an opportunity to design, test, and iterate creative ways; To encourage people to wash their hands with soap at critical times, by training doctors, nurses and all hospital staff, as well as patients and their families, on the correct methods for disinfecting and cleaning hands

The celebration took place at the Faculty of Dentistry, with an exhibition of artwork, posters and scientific training materials for hand sanitization and hygiene at the Training and Education Development Center in hospitals on June 6 and 7, 2022.
