The Minister of Communications and the President of Ain Shams University witness the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Faculty of Environmental Research and the Ministry of Communications

Eng. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, signed a cooperation protocol between the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research represented by Prof. Dr. Noha Samir Donia, Dean of the Faculty, and the Central Administration for Digital Community Development at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, represented by Eng. Hoda Dahrouj, Head of the Central Administration.

         
   
         

The protocol stipulates that the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research will provide the Shams platform for climate change, which comes in partnership with the Ministry of Communications to confront the issue of climate change, an issue that poses an increasing threat to the stability of various systems on the planet.

In the presence of: Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Hisham Temraz, Vice President of Community Affairs and Environmental Development, Professor Mohamed Hanafi, Media Adviser to the Minister, Major General Ihab Sadek, Minister’s Adviser for Public Relations Affairs, Dr. Al-Moataz Billah Taha, General Supervisor of the Minister’s Office Sector, Mrs. Rana Heta, Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs, Mr. Samer Saeed Rais The Central Department for Financial Affairs, Administration and Needs, Engineer Rehab Yahya, Deputy Regional Director for Digital Transformation, Dr. Hala Sadiq, Director of the General Administration of Development Projects and Knowledge, Ms. Marwa Abdel Alim, Deputy Director of the Partnerships for Development Unit, Eng. Mohamed Bassiouni, Acting Program Content Development Department, and Dr. Ahmed Maher is the director of the Shams Bee Green project at the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research.

The protocol includes holding a training course that enables students to learn about environmental sciences, to return to the history of the globe to learn about the changes caused by humans, to review the effects of climate change and to foresee the future, in order to predict what awaits the globe.

         
   
         

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, on the existing joint cooperation between Ain Shams University, especially the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research and the Ministry of Communications, which has a great impact on exchanging experiences and developing technological content that keeps pace with the times, and expressed his happiness at activating the Shams platform for climate change, explaining how important it is to society.

He added that this platform helps spread environmental awareness of all kinds, which helps in achieving sustainable development, within the framework of the university's preparations for the COP 27 climate conference, which will be held in November of this year and in implementation of Egypt's vision 2030.

It is worth mentioning that the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research at Ain Shams University, in partnership with the Climate Change Institute at the University of Edinburgh Climate Change Institute (ECCI), has prepared the scientific content for this course, which includes an introduction to climate change, the global effects of climate change, and human factors that contribute to changes.
