Prof. Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, President of Ain Shams University, announced a new achievement by the university in improving the competitive position of the university in international classifications. Ain Shams University ranked second in the Egyptian universities in the Leiden ranking of the universities based on the impact of international research. In the famous database Web of Science 2019, which witnessed the presence of five Egyptian universities within 963 international universities included in this classification about 30 thousand universities around the world.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, vice president for education and students affairs and general supervisor of the international classification of the university. He said that Ain Shams has achieved a progress rate of (+10) to reach 567 with a number of 3248 researches, thus finishing second among the Egyptian universities.
He added that the classification of the Leiden CWTs depends on the assessment of universities on research published in the form of a scientific article or reference in the database of the Web of Science, which is managed by the publication of clarifying analytics and published in the top 1, 5%, 10% and 50% of the list of magazines. The classification does not depend on the assessment of books, conference booklets and research articles published in non-indexed journals in the Web of Science database.

For the ranking of the top 10% of published research for the highest percentage of scientific citations repeated globally to the published research of the other universities participating in the evaluation in the same areas of evaluation, Ain Shams University ranked 582 globally, after published 105 research progress rate (+58) from last year And by change (0.8%)
As for the best 1% of the published research rankings globally compared to the published researches of the other participating universities in the same evaluation fields, Ain Shams University achieved +113 progress from last year with a change of + 0.4%.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Abdel Naser Sengab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, said that the results of this classification came to announce the fruits of the research and research sector in the field of scientific research and international publishing. The sector is keen to organize regular training courses in cooperation with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank to encourage faculty members and their assistants to spread their scientific output internationally and to introduce them to the most prominent international journals in various scientific fields.
Sengab stressed that the means of motivation not only in the organization of training courses, but in the sector is keen to pay periodic bonuses semi-annually to faculty members and their assistants who have published their scientific research internationally.
In this context, the Sector has established an International Publication Office, which is followed by sub-liaison units in all faculties and institutes of the University, to facilitate communication with the Main Committee for International Publishing Awards.
