Ahmed Magdy Farag, a faculty member in Ain Shams University, wins third place in the Science Fiction Literature Competition of the Academy of Scientific Research

Prof. Ahmed Magdy Farag, a faculty member in the Drama Department in the Faculty of Arts, won the third place in the competition of science fiction literature and scientific translations organized by the Academy of Scientific Research in various literary fields. “Magdy” deservedly won the third place in the field of critical work in the submitted research Entitled: "The Gaia Effect from Myth to the Dystopia of Hope"

The study analyzes and compares the points of convergence and similarity between Greek mythology and science fiction literature, in light of the Gaia hypothesis of the ecologist J. Lovelock. The study is divided into two sections: the first, entitled Gaia, between the emergence of the universe in the Greek world and achieving ecological balance in the modern era; In it, the researcher analyzes the Gaia hypothesis of Lovelock and compares it with the Greek myths of the origin of the universe.

As for the second topic, entitled: A reading of the novel of the Gaya effect in light of Lovelock's hypothesis: the destruction of the earth, but...a dystopia full of hope; In it, the researcher analyzes the science fiction novel, the effect of Gaya, to clarify the role of science fiction literature in simplifying hypotheses and science within the framework of a literary fiction template derived from myths and scientific hypotheses.

10 contestants won in the various fields of the competition, a competition that witnessed a large participation of science fiction authors, as 35 works were submitted between novel, story, short story and critical work.
