The Minister of Higher Education chairs the meeting of the Supreme Council for Education and Student Affairs at Ain Shams University

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, chaired the meeting of the Supreme Council for Education and Student Affairs No. (100), in the presence of Dr. Mohamed ‎Latif, Acting Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, and members of the Council, at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University.

         
   
         

At the beginning of the meeting, the Council extended its sincere congratulations to Dr. Ayman Ashour for the confidence of the political leadership for his assumption of the position of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, wishing him continued success and payment, stressing the cooperation with him to continue efforts to achieve the desired development in the system of higher education and scientific research.

In his speech, the minister thanked Ain Shams University for hosting the meeting of the Supreme Council for Education and Student Affairs, during which he discussed a number of important topics related to the education and student affairs sector at the level of public universities.

The Minister directed the necessity of universities’ readiness to start studying in the new academic year 2022/2023, as well as to complete all maintenance work and raise efficiency during the summer vacation, to provide a distinguished educational experience for students, and to improve the quality of educational services provided to them.

The Council congratulated each of Dr. Mohamed Abdel Naim, on the occasion of his appointment as Vice President of Suez Canal University for Education and Student Affairs, as well as the assignment of Dr. Ahmed Abdel Mawla to carry out the work of Vice President of Assiut University for Education and Student Affairs, wishing them further progress and prosperity, and achieving achievements in the education and student affairs sector.‎

On his part, Dr. Haitham Hamza, Head of the Central Department of Scholarships and Cultural Representation at the Ministry of Higher Education, reviewed the preparation steps for the ninth five-year plan for missions (2022-2027), as well as setting conditions and criteria for selecting scholars in the fields and disciplines that aim to achieve Egypt’s vision for sustainable development 2030, and to overcome all obstacles that may face students abroad, to achieve the maximum possible scientific benefit, noting that this plan includes new programs for scholarship students during the first university stage to study and train in the most prestigious universities and international institutes, stressing that this plan supports joint study programs and agreements study between Egyptian and foreign universities by sending students for one or more semesters at foreign universities

   
   

As Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Ain Shams University, and Dr. Hisham Farouk, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation, reviewed a report on the best solutions for issuing secure certificates for university graduates, in line with supporting the digital transformation plan in universities to improve electronic services provided to students and graduates, and that there is cooperation between universities and the Center for Secured Issues to print graduation certificates in a secure manner, as more than 700,000 certificates were printed during the past two years, and there is cooperation to establish biometric data centers; In order to prepare biometric databases for students

During the meeting, the council discussed the proposals submitted by universities regarding timetables for awareness programs and activities, which aim to develop university youth awareness of all the challenges facing the country and student activities at the level of Egyptian universities.

The council reviewed the measures taken by universities regarding the students’ contribution to finding solutions to social problems (divorce - customary marriage - drugs - the tolerance of religions - weak family ties), where the universities held several awareness seminars and held a student meeting to inform them of the importance of their role in contributing to solving social problems, organizing student unions for faculties, a program of seminars for all social problems, launching a competition for the best social research at the university level in all contemporary social problems, and organizing a symposium Central for presenting the research of the winning students in the Social Research Competition.‎

The council agreed to provide posters and brochures to raise awareness of some of the dangers facing Egyptian society, and to publish them in places where university students gather.‎

The council reviewed a report on the fourth festival of beach sports and games for universities, which was held in conjunction with the celebration of the golden jubilee of the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Universities Sports Federation, which was hosted by Alexandria University during the period from August 6 to August 11, 2022 with the participation of 21 university.

The council also reviewed a report on the development of the Education and Student Affairs Council since the early nineties until now, at the level of activities and events in government universities, as well as setting the future vision for developing the higher education and scientific research system during the coming period, as well as raising the educational and service performance of students; To meet the needs of society for innovation and creativity by providing a distinguished learning environment.
