Chairman of the House of Representatives, the Governor of Cairo, Minister of Higher Education and Minister of Social Solidarity Inaugurate New Children's Hospital

Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel-Al, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel-Aal, Governor of Cairo, Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ghada Wali, Minister of Social Solidarity, the President of the University and the Chairman of the University Hospitals opened the New Children's Hospital and the elderly hospital at Ain Shams University.

This came in the presence of Dr. Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Ali Gomaa, the former Grand Mufti of Egypt and Chairman of Misr Al-Kheir Foundation, Prof. Dr. Hussein Essa, Chairman of the Planning and Budget Committee of the House of Representatives, Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Sengab Vice-President of Ain Shams University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Students Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh Director General of University Hospitals and Prof. Ahmed Zaki Badr, Former Minister of Local Development, Bishop Jeremiah, Archbishop of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, Mr. Mohammad Al-Atrabi, Chairman of Banque Misr, Major General Khaled Abdel-Aal, Governor of Cairo, Dr.. Hala Sweid Director of the Elderly Hospital and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hodhod, Head of Department of Pediatrics and a group of vice-deans, faculty members and public figures.

The opening activities included two documentary films about the stages of the establishment of the two hospitals, where the new children's hospital was built on an area of 4000 meters including green areas and services at a cost of 220 million pounds. It includes basement, ground floor and six frequent floors.

It has been planned for completion in three stages was opened today with a capacity of 180 beds and a card of 201 beds after the addition of care and dialysis. An internal bridge connect between the old and new hospital.

The second phase aims to upgrade the efficiency of the old hospital and return it to the first architectural model. It was agreed with the TMG Foundation at a cost of LE 35 million. The third phase aims at establishing a hospital for pediatric surgeries at an expected cost of EGP 400.000000.

Prof. Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat said that the University is keen to play its societal role in various fields, especially the role of university hospitals, where more than one and a half patients come to university hospitals. He announced that the university hospitals at Ain Shams University were chosen to train a number of doctors in the American University branch in Beirut, and this indicates their international qualifications and expertise. As for the elderly hospital, it serves an important age profile that is expected to reach 20 million by 2050.

The hospital consists of a ground floor and six recurring floors with 98 beds, 22 intensive care beds and 10 medium care beds. The ministers and the family of Engineer Ahmed Shawki, who donated more than 40 million pounds to the elderly hospital, were honored
