His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received at the Papal Headquarters in Cairo, Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Shawky, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Nora Mohamed, a lecturer of Coptic archeology at the faculty, who thanked His Holiness for inaugurating the First International Conference on Coptic Archeology at Ain Shams University last Saturday, and the participation of His Holiness at the conference gave an important lecture during which he highlighted the importance of Coptic studies and the value of the Coptic language throughout history.
Pope Tawadros personally thanked Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, all the deputies and university leaders, for the excellent organization of the conference, and Prof. Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty, former Minister of Antiquities, for the interesting and distinguished lecture.
The Faculty of Archeology at Ain University organized the first international conference of Coptic Archeology in cooperation with the Society of Coptic Archeology and the French Institute of Oriental Archeology in Cairo, during which 120 research papers were presented, 45 of which were discussed during the conference.
