The preparations of the sectors of the Faculty of Education to welcome the new academic year and a lecture on climate change

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Ghada Farouk, acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Hazem Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Education, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Education, in cooperation with the Faculty Administration and Civil Defense, made preparations for the new academic year 2022-2023 by reviewing everything related to the faculty ’s educational services in terms of the readiness of classrooms, auditoriums, laboratories and display screens in all faculty buildings, as well as reviewing With regard to the work of civil defense and civil protection and the readiness of fire extinguishers, their distribution and maintenance, and follow-up was carried out with the Faculty administration for all cleaning work, toilets, landscaping and others to provide an appropriate learning environment for Faculty students for the new academic year.

The faculty’s graduate studies sector has prepared for the academic year 2022/2023 by holding six introductory meetings (electronic and direct) on the educational postgraduate programs, which were attended by more than 1,500 people, and inaugurating the Graduate Studies Admission and Registration Department to link the Faculty ’s graduate studies system with the smart Ain Shams University system and holding exams of postgraduate programs (personal interviews and written tests) in addition to placing professors and students on their courses on the Faculty platform for postgraduate studies.

         
   
         

With regard to the Faculty ’s plan to receive new candidates from the Faculty Coordination Office for the academic year 2022/2023, the Education and Student Affairs Sector was prepared by conducting a medical examination on all students and conducting a personal interview, as well as educating students and parents about the programs available in the Faculty (directly and through Microsoft teams ) in addition to defining the internal bifurcation of the programs, preparing the UMS platform and the model for the first year 2022/2023, preparing the announcement of the procedures for submitting the file and the tuition fees for the programs, accepting files from students, finalizing their enrollment procedures and registering them on UMS, preparing the study schedules, announcing and working with them from October 1, 2022, compiling electronic courses and preparing them for transmission to all Students, in addition to the reception of the Youth Care and the Union for new students in the first week of study, and the study began virtually in all programs in the Faculty from the first day of study on October 1, 2022, starting at eight in the morning.

The Faculty of Education also organized an important cultural lecture entitled “Climate Changes, the Carbon Footprint and the Efforts of Ain Shams University to Transform into a Green University” for Prof. Dr. Rasha Hamed Sayed Bundook, Professor of Geography of Urban Urbanization and Services at the Faculty, which was opened by Prof. Hazem Rashid, Dean of the Faculty in the presence of all the deputies. Prof. Dr. Maged Abu Al-Enein, the former dean of the Faculty, a group of department heads and faculty staff in various disciplines, and a large number of students from all departments attended.

         
   
         

The lecture witnessed a great turnout, and Prof. Dr. Rasha Bundok addressed the concept of global warming and its causes, then she addressed the concept of the carbon footprint and how to reduce the carbon footprint of individuals, and then referred to the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh from 6 to November 18 (COP27) 2022.

She emphasized the main axes of treating the crisis, then Her Excellency addressed the most important efforts of Ain Shams University towards the issue of climate change, and concluded the lecture with some actual efforts and initiatives at Ain Shams University to achieve the desired goal towards a green university.

     
 
     

The lecture was characterized by interaction from all attendees, student interest in the content of the lecture and the ability to participate in all projects supporting the topic of climate change and transforming Ain Shams University into a green university that contributes to preserving the environment, which the university considers one of its essential roles towards society.
