Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Okasha, founder of the University's Psychiatric Center and Prof. Dr. Osama Mansour, Acting Dean of the College of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors and Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Anwar, Executive Director of University Hospitals, and Prof. Dr. Tarek Youssef, Deputy Executive Director of University Hospitals for Projects, the university is organizing the opening ceremony of Okasha Psychiatric Center after its development and renewal, at ten thirty in the morning of Monday, September 12, at the center’s headquarters in university hospitals.

In the presence of the Vice Presidents of the University and Prof. Dr.. Maha Sayed, director of the Okasha Psychiatric Center, and a. Dr.. Tariq Okasha, professor of psychiatry and supervisor of development work, and directors of university hospitals, heads of departments, and a group of professors, doctors and specialists.

It is noteworthy that the Okasha Psychiatric Center provides high-quality psychiatric care for psychiatric patients and victims of addiction. It is a center affiliated to Ain Shams University Hospitals and is dedicated to short-term stays. It is a specialized training research institute that provides education and training in the field of psychiatry.

It was chosen as the first institution in the Middle East entrusted with coordinating research and training in the field of mental health by the World Health Organization.

The Psychiatric Center enjoys a privileged location, serving nearly a third of the population of Greater Cairo, and it provides services to patients residing in the cities and villages of the surrounding governorates.

The Psychiatric Center is the first psychiatric hospital to be established in the university hospital complex. Its establishment played a pioneering role that provided psychiatric patients the opportunity to receive care and treatment under the supervision of a team of specialists with the highest academic qualifications and the best academic degrees.

The center has many goals, including:

The center has many treatment methods such as: family psychotherapy, psychological and behavioral therapy, revitalization and cognitive therapy, self-help sessions and religious support for patients, brain rhythm regulation sessions, and memory clinic.

The day after the opening of Okasha Psychiatric Center will be followed by the launch of the 17th International Conference on Psychiatry and the 5th International Conference on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry under the title "Facts in Psychopharmacology and Psychotherapy".
